Piece by Peace, 2026
Kristen Allicock
Acrylic and aerosol on repurposed fabric
36 × 36 × 36 in.

About the work:

Peace isn't something that arrives all at once. It is assembled gradually, piece by piece, through our experiences, relationships, memories, communities, and acts of healing.

"Piece by Peace" reflects on the fragmented and ongoing nature of finding peace, both within ourselves and in the world around us. Each of id carries our own stories, yet together, we contribute to something larger: a sense of wholeness, connection, and hope amidst a chaotic world.

The turnaround time for this piece was super quick and I had a lot of fun creating it 💜😌

Slide to see the progress 😏➡️

This was my third public art opportunity I participated in this Summer, thanks to Bellydancer based in Toronto, Canada and Friends of Kensington Market and it was so much fun!

Pulled a long day coming off of night shift in the hot ass sun but it was well worth it 😅

This 4' x 6' piece is titled, “Unbecoming” and it's about the microaggressions and limiting messages young Black girls are often handed as they move through the world and the freedom that comes when we decide we don't have to carry them.

This summer has been busy, productive, creative, and super fulfilling. Feeling grateful for every opportunity to take my work beyond the canvas and into the community.

More art. More stories. More to come 💜
