Commissioned artwork. The client came to me after seeing my recent work, with the hope of creating something deeply personal for his family. He had a collection of old family photographs and wanted a painting that could honor that history—something that would carry both memory and meaning.
I was immediately drawn to the images. There was so much unspoken story in them. From there, we spent time sharing ideas, working through sketches, and making revisions until the piece felt right.
The painting touches on themes that have long been present in my work: displacement, the lasting shadow of war, and the possibility of redemption, healing, and resilience. These are stories that continue to resonate, both personally and universally.
In the end, I feel we created something honest and deeply felt—something that respects the past while still holding space for hope. He was very happy with the result, and so was I.
