Made a special delivery today!

It has been an amazing experience working with Dr. Tom Wanyama, Mark Currie and the students of the Automation Systems Engineering Technology program at

I worked with Dr. Wanyama and Mark for the experimental learning component of the Manufacturing Systems course through the Learning Factory Facility .

I supported the project by producing components of a student-designed product.

This was an excellent opportunity for the students to have a practical application of theoretical knowledge as it applies to design and manufacturing.

I look forward to continuing to work with the group!

It’s been a busy year for David Scola Studio! For anyone new, I want to reintroduce myself, say hi and share what I’ve been working on!

Last year, I joined as a partner and have moved my studio to Hamilton. This has been an amazing opportunity to grow my business and connect with other craftspeople.

The arts community in Hamilton is dynamic and exciting, and has been an amazing place to work for this past year.

Please drop by and visit to the new studio space and I can’t wait to share all the work I have been doing.

Newly installed dust boot on the 48x24 Pro CNC machine. Thanks to Keith Moreland from for his attention to detail printing this double pickup dust boot with a 5 inch connection! He sized the duct openings and geometry to match the total area of the connection. It is working out better than expected!

It is so satisfying to see work from the past back in the studio. This is one of three pieces in a series of works entitled “Reliquary”. It has come back for a visit and to serve as a stepping off point for a new series for the same client. Pictured with three blanks obtained when the original works were create.

I recently found an old edition of from 1986 that had a collection of articles about working in a small shop. One of the articles gave instructions on how to make wooden hand screw clamps.

Being an apprentice furtnite maker at the time, this was very appealing as I could save time and money by making the clamps myself. I have clamps for over 30 years! Recently I gave them some much needed TLC and I am proud to still have some of my original tools in my new studio.

So happy to get my new apron today! My other apron was a dust magnet and my pens always fell out of the pockets. I found Calavera on Instagram and contacted them. Michael was incredibly helpful and provided great customer service. This customer service continued today upon opening the package. I was greeted with a personalized message and additional items with my order.

The apron is great quality and exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend ordering from Calavera. Good quality products and good customer service can be hard to find especially in these difficult times but It was a pleasure to order from this company!
