As a new season begins, there’s something important to remember:
Whether you’re a dancer, gymnast, artist, athlete, or simply doing something you love, the place you choose to spend your time should help you grow, feel inspired, improve and enjoy the process.
Last season, after starting at a new place, I found myself questioning whether I even wanted to continue something I had loved and worked so hard at for years.
It wasn’t one moment or one thing. It was the overall experience — the training, the atmosphere, the lack of professionalism, the constant negativity and that feeling of always having to walk on eggshells. Little by little, something I loved started to feel heavy instead of exciting.
But I learned something important: you choose where you spend your time, and you deserve to be treated with respect.
Teachers and coaches are there to guide you, but respect should always go both ways. No title or position makes one person’s feelings, voice or worth more important than another’s.
So this season, I’m choosing something different.
A new place. A new beginning. And hopefully a chance to rediscover the joy, inspiration and excitement that made me love doing this in the first place.
Starting over can be scary, especially when you’ve invested so much time and people you care about are still there. But your skills come with you. Your hard work comes with you. Your dreams come with you. And real friendships come with you too.
Sometimes walking away isn’t giving up.
Sometimes it’s choosing not to let the wrong environment take away something you worked so hard to build. 🤍

The Marionette from *Five Nights at Freddy’s* is one of my favorite characters because she’s creepy and acrobatic. Horror and acrobatics are two of my favorite things, so she’s basically perfect for me.
