Announcing our Winter and Spring Workshops! 📣

From the fundamentals of sound and lighting tech to the fundamentals of vinyl DJing, join us for our newest batch of hands-on PWYC workshops, facilitated by community members who share their skills and insights in dedicated sessions.

Remember that **members access all workshops for free**! Since a membership pays off after attending even just 2 workshops—or alternatively, 3 discounted shows—if you’re eyeing several workshops or shows, you could benefit from joining us!

Our memberships were redesigned back in the Summer as we reflected on how to create systems that give back to our community *and* sustain our work to foster experimental sound and music in the city. We hope that you’ll join us in learning through these sessions.

Visit our website to learn about each workshop and membership perks when you join us (starting at $30).

Most workshops are limited capacity, so get your spots early!

The Music Gallery joins the growing list of Canadian cultural organizations standing in solidarity with Palestine. This by virtue includes all marginalized and oppressed communities being harmed at the hands of the Israeli government, and governments across the world.

The Music Gallery is proud to sign on to support and endorse the Palestinian Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI). We amplify the call for this endorsement in solidarity with the people of Palestine, and their fight for liberation from Israeli occupation and genocide.

The Music Gallery via our staff, board, and larger community of artists are committed to the necessary fight for the freedom of all people from the stranglehold of global capitalism and the inherent racism, colonialism, imperialism, misogyny, q***rphobia and environmental destruction that comes with a world built on war and oppression.

As a music organization dedicated to experimentation, rooted in the fight and dreams of Black jazz musicians, we must stand up and speak up. Music is nothing without stories, and stories are inherently political.

We invite all arts and music organizations, regardless of size, to support and endorse PACBI.

To learn more about PACBI, endorse the call with your organization, or join us in advocating for PACBI in Canada, check out visit writersagainstthewarongaza.com/pacbi or email [email protected]

The Music Gallery is pleased to announce a call for audio and lighting technicians, ongoing until the end of the day on December 17th.

For years, we have cultivated a tight-knit team of in-house audio and lighting technicians working behind the scenes to keep our shows looking and sounding amazing. Not only do we depend on our technicians, but we recognize the artistry behind sound and lighting. Our technicians’ work truly impacts and defines the artist and audience experience, supporting those lasting memories at our shows. We are excited to open our doors to a new cohort of lighting and sound techs.

Skilled technicians are encouraged to apply. For individuals with little to no experience seeking mentorship, we’ll have public workshops on lighting and sound 101 so stay tuned.

For more information and to apply, please visit our website at musicgallery.org/call-for-audio-and-lighting-technicians. Applications are via form and the deadline to apply is Dec 17th. We look forward to hearing from you!

Join us tonight at 8 pm on .live for a new mix by A L M A.

From A L M A “An eclectic sonic exploration through a vast array of geographical landscapes and their associated time periods.”

Allie is a q***r, non-binary dancer, musician and Death Doula currently living on the traditional land of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Mississaguas, and Haudenosaunne people. Colonially known as Hamilton, ON. Allie graduated from Concordia University in 2013 with a BFA in Contemporary Dance, as well as a Minor in Religious Studies. Their current artistic practice involves researching ways that we can learn to embody the feelings and sensations of landscapes and use that to help us identify our experiences of grief and death within our proprioceptive body. Their explorations in presences, and their work as a death doula, challenges the way dance and movement are commonly expressed and experienced. Allie is a founding member of Tkaronto (Toronto) based dance collective Open Fortress who explore collaboration through the use of different types of technology, sound and movement to create non-traditional and subversive atmospheres. They are also a founding member of the musical group DOOMSQUAD (2011-2020), and new musical project A L M A.

Join us Saturday, November 9th for a night of improvisation between the palms.

Legendary French double-bassist arrives in Toronto for the first time in over a decade. In a long-envisioned duo performance, with cellist Rémy Bélanger de Beauport, this acoustic performance will fill the beautiful Allan Gardens.

Paired with beloved local artist Masahiro Takahashi for his first official Music Gallery performance, he will perform in a trio alongside Joseph Shabason and Bram Gielen.
