Praised by The Chicago Reader for his “elegantly polished compositions” and celebrated by Juan Luis Guerra as “a marvelous example of what’s happening with Dominican music,” Yasser continues to push Dominican music into new and vibrant territory.

🔥 Catch Yasser Tejeda live at Tlalli Festival 2025 — celebrating Indigenous cultures of the Americas — on Saturday, November 1st at TD Music Hall (Toronto). Get ready for an unforgettable night of rhythm, roots, friendly community, delicious artisanal foods & drinks and joy!

Ps. Participate in our special Celebration of the Dead as we welcome the ancestors back from the XIBALBÁ on our Community Altar installation, with offerings laid out for them such as flowers, foods, drinks, copal, and photos.
The audience is invited and encouraged to bring a printed photo (size 4 x 6, preferably framed) of a beloved departed family member, a friend or a pet that you’d like to remember, honour and celebrate at the altar throughout the event. 💐🫔🙏🏽

Tlalli Artist Spotlight!💥
Hailing all the way from the Southern hemisphere, and distant land of Argentina: ANAHI MARILUÁN,🇦🇷 is a Mapuche musician who composes songs in Mapuzungun, the language of the Mapuche people.
Her compositions are imbued with the conviction of contributing to the future of her people. In her artistic expression, she sings about women, grandmothers and the Mapuche territory, showing the continuous habitation of her community on the land.
She will be playing her traditional Mapuche drum, Kultrun, and will be gracing our stage on the early part of our program, right after our opening ceremony for the earth 🌎🌱

Tlalli Artist Spotlight ✨

XOCÔ, aka Mestre Sérgio Xocolate is on a mission to bridge the cultural and musical gaps, bringing the vibrant traditions of Afro Indigenous Brazilian rhythms into the contemporary music scene.
XOCÔ’s album, recently launched to international critical acclaim and yet is more than just a record; it’s a cultural exchange, a musical journey and an homage to Sérgio’s Afro and Indigenous heritage as a descendent of the XUKURÚ, PATAXÓ & PANKARARÚ Nations in northeastern Pernambuco Brazil, uniting ancestral rhythms with psychedelic rock, blues, funk and even drum & bass.
As a Master teacher of Traditional Capoeira celebrating a forty year practice, XOCÔ’s career as a multi-talented artist is recognized world wide for his dedication and contributions to music, culture and education.

On September 21st at , Mestre Sérgio Xocolate will be dancing and performing Traditional Percussion based music and will share how it relates to the practice of Capoeira and other traditional dances from Pernambuco Brasil. He will be on at 4:25 pm and will get the audience to get involved in dancing.

They represent a musical tradition from Trinidad & Tobago and beautiful sounds from fhe Caribbean.

Kobo Town is a Juno-winning Canadian Caribbean music group, led by Trinidadian Canadian singer and songwriter Drew Gonsalves. The band blends calypso music with a diverse mix of Caribbean and other musical influences, including ska, reggae, dub, rapso, zouk and hip hop.
