This month, noonjeem is grooving us into the night with mesmerizing music and vocals.

Ahmed Hegazy is a singer-songwriter, music producer, and performer who grew up in Cairo, Egypt and is based in Toronto, Ontario.

Under the moniker of noonjeem, he writes and produces his own music, and performs it across the city. His debut EP, The Orchids Are Blooming! received praise from Toronto’s The Grind. In it, he splices soulful vocals with experimental electronic production. Since its release, he has performed at events across the city including Long Winter, Audiopollination, and FUFA, and shared lineups with Vivek Shraya, Janice Jo Lee and the QTs, and Bahar Atish.

This month we welcome back Janel Jones, who’ll be crafting a special night of visual and sonic soundscapes with Atonal.

Janel is a multi-disciplinary artist and songwriter whose practice centers healing, reflection, and play through sound. Rooted in jazz, soul, and contemporary improvisation, Janel’s sound is shaped by their Carribean heritage and over a decade performing within Toronto’s music community. Their music honors the ancestors, and holds the complexities of their intersectional earth experience.

Atonal is the solo project of Kalina Nedelcheva, who blends experimental poetry, improvisation, and sound recording to create contemplative ecosystems that explore how sound affects our understanding of images, memories, the environment, and language.

Paint with Pride Exhibition

The exhibition showcases the brilliant artworks that were created and displayed as part of Paint with Pride! 2026 a public at large engagement by StreetARToronto during Pride weekend that took place from June 26th to 28th where visitors were invited to engage with public art through a welcoming, hands-on creative space called the ‘Quiet Zone’ at the ‘ArtZone’ PrideTO.

Co- Curator, Monica Wickler and guest artist Renato Baldin created an interactive community sculpture for bypassers to animate with stickers framed with the rainbow colours and respond to the prompt what makes you smile? This activation was facilitated in collaboration with youth from the YMCA Greater Toronto Area, Newcomers Program.

At the StART Wall, a series of videos highlighted the ten StART programs and featured some inspiring videos that captured the essence of the process of creating a mural as well as the celebration of those public art works with and for the community.

This exhibition highlights public art as a tool for inclusion, visibility, and community connection, creating space to reflect, remember, share, create, educate, and celebrate the diversity of a community that won’t stop!

StreetARToronto (StART) and Worth Gallery are proud to present the 3rd Annual Emancipation Exhibition: Identity, a dynamic group exhibition featuring the work of up to 30 BIPOC visual artists from across Canada. Through painting, photography, digital media, installation, and interdisciplinary practices, Identity explores the many ways we understand ourselves and our place in the world. Reflecting on themes of belonging, culture, memory, resilience, and self-expression, the exhibition celebrates identity as layered, evolving, and deeply personal. Join us at Worth Gallery from July 30 to August 9, 2026, to experience a compelling collection of contemporary works that invite reflection, dialogue, and connection.

StreetARToronto and Worth Gallery are now accepting submissions for the 3rd Annual Emancipation Exhibition, taking place in August 2026. This year’s theme is centred on Identity and is a free open call for BIPOC Visual Artists of all practices.

Concept Description - Identity
“Identity is the collection of physical, mental, emotional, and social traits that define who you are. It encompasses how you perceive yourself (personal identity) and how you are categorized by society (social identity), and provides the distinguishing characteristics that make you uniquely recognizable.

Entry Criteria
The key criteria for entry in the 3rd Annual Emancipation Exhibition is thoughtful engagement with the exhibition concept outlined above. Participating artists are invited to freely interpret the concept in the context of their own perspectives, experience, and art practice.
Additional practical considerations:

Size restrictions
We ask that all works be no larger than 24”x24”.
Submission sizes should not exceed 10 megabytes

Production date
There are no restrictions on the production date of submitted works.

Geographic restrictions
We typically accept submissions from artists whose practice is based in Toronto. However, we welcome applicants from across Canada, provided that logistical considerations are addressed in advance.

If the selection panel members find it necessary to view the work in-person during the selection process, we ask that the piece be available for viewing in the greater Toronto area. In this case, the curators will contact the artist in advance and arrange a visit at a mutually convenient time.

Number of works submitted by artists
We generally ask that artists submit no more than 3 works. However, we will consider series or bodies of work that consist of more than 3 interrelated pieces.

As the resonant tones of crystal bowls, chimes, and other instruments fill the space, you’re encouraged to settle into comfort and simply be. These harmonious sounds inspire deep rest and inner calm.

This is a space of care and connection, welcoming you to experience peace in your own way and at your own pace.

Please arrive 10-15 minutes early. Bring your yoga mat and anything that adds to your comfort like a pillow, blanket, eye mask, water bottle and journal to capture your reflections.

Lost Landmarks: Open Call Art Exhibition
Collaboration with Little Ghosts Books, Better Way Alliance and Worth Gallery

Presenting contemporary art, photographs, & mixed media pieces this exhibition explores the disappeared landmarks of Toronto, lost due to gentrification, the changing economy, and commercial rent challenges. Better Way Alliance in partnership with Worth Gallery invites artists and the community to come together and consider the culture that we lose as the city’s landscape develops.

Call Open, June 20th to July 4th ‘26

Maximum of 3 pieces, no larger than 24”x24”. Works must be delivered to Worth gallery between July 4th and 6th.

This month’s edition of Frequency features Shel Khan, an existential genre bending musician exploring different aspects of human life in her sound.

Shel Khan is a Toronto-based musician blending alternative, grunge, soul, and industrial music. Her sound is fierce, vulnerable, and evocative, with songs exploring themes of ancestry, nature, consciousness, loss, human connection, existentialism, Buddhism, and dialectics.

Human life contains soaring highs, bleak lows, beauty, violence, and everything in between. Shel aspires to touch as much of that multitude as possible.

Her debut self-produced EP, Garden, released May 8, 2026, marks a shift toward a darker, soulful, post-industrial alt-rock sound and is only the beginning.

Located in the lower gallery — down a flight of stairs.
