We are delighted to welcome new work by Michelle Miller from her latest ‘Connection’ series:

Intertwined
Mixed Media

Says the artist: “This series of woven canvas strips explores connection — between self and others, across time and place, and between the internal and external worlds. The interlaced, primed and painted surfaces reflect a fundamental belief: that all things in life are inextricably connected.

Frayed edges reveal the fragility of existence, while the act of binding the strips together suggests solidarity and strength. In their woven structure, vulnerability and resilience co-exist. The horizontal and vertical elements extend beyond the frame, suggesting continuity without end. In this way, the work exists both within time and beyond it — simultaneously temporal and eternal.”

Visit Michelle’s work in person and online. Complimentary delivery can be arranged between Tofino and Victoria. International shipping is available.

We are delighted to welcome new work to the gallery!

Ira Hoffecker’s “The Keepers” (left) shares space with Ben Fox’s “Imaginary Beach 16” (right) and Birgit Piskor’s sculpture “Wave Series #3” (centre). Her “Standing Torso Series” sculpture is part of the gallery’s personal collection. I love how Ira’s and Ben’s distinctively disparate works unite in palette.

Visit us in person or online. Complimentary delivery can be arranged between Tofino and Victoria. International shipping is available.

Montserrat and I love connecting collectors with unique, Canadian contemporary art.

With pleausure, Matt Dyer’s painting ‘One House’ is heading to Claiborne County, TN.

Dyer, a Tofino-based visual artist, takes inspiration from our world as a dynamic whole: people, time, relationships, communities and environment — and the awkward, non-glorious ways in which we struggle. He feels the most telling parts of life are found in the ordinary, where the ‘underwhelming’ is where the beauty of our world can be most easily seen.

Dyer’s formal studies have taken him to Victoria, BC; San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; and Honolulu, HI. His vibrant paintings have a delightfully modern 20th c. feel, drawing inspiration from abstract expressionist painters Richard Diebenkorn and Fritz Scholder, and contemporary artist Derrick Adams. He was awarded the Melusine Award at the juried Artists of Hawaii exhibit.

I love visiting the work of TGCA artists featured in collectors’ homes. A painting by Sal Wiltshire from her ‘Interiors’ series shares space with a Fran Solar vessel. Art makes life — and space — beautiful.
