I’ve always been creative. My interests are many and varied and I enjoy trying things if only once. For years my creativity came mostly at Christmas -- 50 hand-made cards for my friends and family. I still make cards but now I also paint larger pictures in Watercolour, acrylics and mixed media. I've painted sunflowers, roosters, herons and whales sometimes as you would find in nature and sometimes
in unexpected vibrant colours. I like to add some fun and whimsy in my art. I’m an ‘early career' artist having just started to paint seriously in 2008 when I took two acrylic courses by established Vancouver artist Lori Sokoluk. I also took an art exploration course at the Emily Carr School of Art in Vancouver on Saturdays for 3 months. We had sessions in colour mixing, art history, life sketching and 3D work. My big project was creating a full size love-seat and a steaming cup of coffee from corrugated cardboard. The coffee cup fit into a slot on the sofa back. The love-seat is gone but I still have the coffee cup sitting on my mantle. I’m greatly influenced by the natural beauty of British Columbia, the Pacific Ocean and the Coastal mountains. I lived in Whistler for 3 ski seasons, spent a summer in the heat of semi-arid Kelowna, spent 6 years in the 'very English' Victoria and 20 years in cosmopolitan Vancouver. I moved back to Tillsonburg Ontario in 2011 - this is where I grew up and where my family still lives. I joined Station Arts and paint with the Bridge Street Artists at their drop-in studio on Monday afternoons. My artwork and cards are available for purchase at Station Arts or from me.
