The Sleepy Gee Events is a locally-operated business that promotes community development in Thunder Bay through performing arts events! Community development to us means bringing people from all backgrounds into a safe space where they can enjoy and celebrate the arts. It means providing opportunities to meet like-minded people who share the same passions. It means providing opportunities to meet

artists from various disciplines who are up and coming or established. It means providing opportunities for people to further grow their appreciation for local talent and the arts.

Thank you all for coming to our Q***r Poetry Showcase today! 🫶🏳️‍🌈

It was amazing to see the local community get together and meet others, write poetry together, watch local poetry artists recite their poems, and also partake in the open mic session!

One of our highlights was when John M Forget Maheux showcased their artistic work through a “storytime” set-up (inspired by Story Time with Thunder Bay Drag Queens) 🗣️

It’s events like the poetry showcase that provides them with the opportunity to share their art and connect with other like-mended folks - it’s needed!

Join us in celebrating Pride Month with a Q***r Poetry Showcase! 🏳️‍🌈

There will be poetry writing supplies & prompts, discarded books for blackout poetry, and lots of social time to meet other folks who are interested in poetry!

We’ll be featuring the following local 2SLGBTQ+ artists who’ll be doing spoken poetry:

There will be an open mic session! This is a great opportunity for you to show off your poetry 🙌

Thank you all for coming to the Trans Day of Visibility Poetry Showcase! 🏳️‍⚧️

The poetry showcase wasn’t just an event where the 2SLGBTQ+ artists recited their poetry; it’s about visibility in a world where trans voices are often marginalized, misunderstood, and erased.

It’s also about celebrating the trans community locally and showing that Thunder Bay is not just a place where we live. It’s a place where trans people belong! ❤️
