**A decision we’re making for our dancers. 💚**
There was a time when sharing a photo of a child online felt simple: a proud moment, a beautiful dance, a little smile we wanted to celebrate.
But the online world has changed.
With today’s AI technology, a photograph shared publicly can be copied, altered and used in ways no parent, teacher or child ever intended. Images of children can be manipulated into completely fabricated—and deeply disturbing—content.
And as a studio entrusted with your children, we have to ask ourselves:
**Is sharing their photo publicly worth the risk?**
For us, the answer is no.
So, moving forward, **Connections Dance School will no longer share photos or videos of our students on our public social media accounts.**
This isn't an easy decision. We LOVE celebrating our dancers. We love the proud smiles, the first positions, the wobbly turns, the big leaps and all the little moments that make watching children grow through dance so incredibly special.
But our dancers don't need a public audience to be celebrated.
**Their childhood belongs to them. Their memories belong to their families. And their images deserve to be protected.**
This decision also feels especially true to **who we are as a dance school.**
Connections was founded with a very specific mission: **to provide children with a non-competitive place to dance.** We believe dance doesn't have to be about winning, rankings, trophies or proving who is the best. It can simply be about moving, creating, learning, making friends and discovering the joy of dance.
Our approach to social media will reflect that same philosophy.
We know that every dance school is different, with its own philosophy, families and approach to sharing the wonderful things happening in their studios. **This isn't a statement about how anyone else should use social media. It's simply a decision that feels right for Connections and the children we serve.**
There is one thing we will need a little help with, though. ❤️
**Social media has always been one of our primary ways of reaching new families and sharing what makes Connections special.** Without photos of our dancers, that part of our marketing will look a little different.
So if your family loves Connections, **please tell a friend.** 💚
If you know a family looking for a welcoming, positive, **non-competitive** place for their child to discover dance, we would be so grateful if you shared your experience with them.
A personal recommendation from one of our families means more to us than any advertisement ever could.
Because when it comes to our dancers, **protecting them will always matter more than a like, a share or a post.**
Thank you for trusting us with your children—and for helping us continue to grow through word of mouth, community and the wonderful families who make Connections what it is. 💚
