While signing prints for the upcoming , which I’m extremely excited about because it’ll be my first one in years, I received a notification from one of my trail cameras that there was a black bear in our backyard. This bear is a frequent visitor and he’s never caused any problems for us. I believe that by letting our property remain full of bear food (dandelions, horsetail, etc.) it gives him no reason to dabble in our garbage bins or bird feeders. I hope to see some of you at the market on Saturday!

Looking for the right home for Iskie

This is Iskie. I found him last November near Dease Lake, and he’s been living with us while we try to find him a proper home.

I want to be upfront. Iskie can be spicy at times. He will smack or bite occasionally, sometimes without much warning. Because of that, he needs a home with no kids and no other pets.

But the bigger part of his personality is actually the opposite.

He’s a very loving cat. He seeks out attention, enjoys being around people, and is a total lap cat. He loves to cuddle. Most of the time he’s affectionate and easy to be around, he just has moments where that switch flips.

He’s been neutered, vaccinated, and has come a long way since we found him. He clearly wants a connection with people, he just needs the right environment and someone who understands that he’s not a perfect, predictable cat.

We already have four cats that don’t get along with him, so we can’t keep him long term. He’s currently living in our basement while we try to find him the right situation.

I know he won’t be for everyone, but I do think there’s someone out there who would be a great fit for him.

I’m willing to drive him pretty much anywhere in Canada to make sure he gets to the right home.

If that might be you, or if you know someone who has experience with cats like this, send me a message.

Please share this to help him find the right home.
