We sure are proud of Art by Mitchell & Colleen who are being recognized for their hard work and community contributions. The Terrace Art Gallery would not be what it is without your commitment and support.
Did you know that as a non-profit charitable organization that receives BC Gaming dollars it is imperative to show our volunteer and member commitment to gallery operations? Colleen and Mitchell sure do! Each and every month they check-in about exhibition and event posters. Mitchell loves delivering posters and each and every month you can find him and his mom-ager out & about in the community distributing information about upcoming gallery shows and events. We sure do appreciate the time they give to the gallery. WTG Mitchell! 👏
Mitchell is the creative genius behind Art by Mitchell and I as his mother, am the one that makes everything else happen. As an entrepreneur with special needs, it is very important for him to have someone to manage his business.
We started by putting his paintings and cards in the Terrace Art Gallery Gift Shop.
Mitchell and his mom got involved at the Terrace Art Gallery volunteering to distribute exhibition posters around town. Being involved in the community has gotten Mitchell known very well around Terrace. Volunteering at the Art Gallery gave us opportunities to be involved with special programs and funding as well as having an opportunity to have art exhibitions at the Gallery. Mitchell has had three art exhibitions at the Gallery. He really enjoys painting houses and buildings, and after his second show, he started to get commissions for paintings of people’s houses and businesses, and the commissions have been nonstop ever since then. In the beginning, they also hung Mitchell’s paintings for sale in local restaurants, and also had his cards available for sale as well.
Mitchell has his artwork in 18 different galleries or shops in 6 different towns in Northern BC including Terrace, Smithers, Stewart, Kitimat, Prince Rupert and Port Edward.
Mitchell would not have his art business without the help from his mom because he does not have any interest or the capacity to talk to people or do any of the paperwork or create anything other than the paintings. This is also the most difficult part because the majority of the work has then been put on Mom. "I tell people that I work for Mitchell." Colleen (mom)

The best part about Mitchell’s art business is getting to showcase all of his artwork, meeting people that admire his art and travelling with Mom, Dad and Mitchell and exploring the different towns that have his artwork for sale.
Best advice I could give is to start small and grow with your popularity. Also, except all the help that is offered.
