Our first member of grit and glitters two legged team we want to talk about is the one and only Alyssa. Alyssa is our trick rider and main performer.

Alyssa enjoys all things animal related. Her love for animals outweighs all else. Alyssa has been riding since she was 10 years old and was originally trained English.

Alyssa trained and competed English for many years under her coach and role model Sarah Steenbeek. In later years Alyssa took an interest in trick riding and eventually started riding western. She still has a love for English but has really taken to western gaming.

Outside of grit and glitter Alyssa works at a vet clinic on Manitoulin during the day and teaches riding lessons in the afternoon. She loves sharing her passion for animals with everyone.

Our next four-legged friend that we want to introduce is little Tequila.

Now Ms. T hasn’t enter our ring yet but we really hope she can soon. She’s a young mare that is still learning. She may not be performing yet but we bring her along as she helps to keep her sisters company between acts.

Ms. T is the goofiest of the bunch. She loves to show off her little smile! Not only is she good but she has some opinions about a lot of things. She’ll make sure you know how she feels whether she’s super happy or not to thrilled. She’s the first to greet you in the morning and the last to walk away at the end of the day.

Even though we argue, tequila is just as important to every performance we put on. We’d love to tell you more about her if you will let us.

Our next creature for “get-to-know-us” week is Hope.

Hope is quite the character. She’s the escape artist of the group. She’s also the try hard of the herd. Hope is the kind of horse that puts in more effort than is necessary, even if it’s not needed.

Like Chance, Hope is also a multi discipline horse. She may not be as agile as Chance but she tries her hardest.

Hope belongs to our Dee, who (much like Hope) sometimes tries harder then she needs to. Hope came to grit and glitter as a “school horse” which after only a couple rides, was discovered to not be as quiet as we originally thought. Alyssa and her best friend Heather, put a lot of time and effort into making hope the horse you see today.

We’re so thankful for our Hope and are so proud of the horse she’s become. She has quickly become an important member of the team.

As the air gets colder and the season winds down. We’d like to give some appreciation for all involved in grit and glitter and take some time for people to get to know the crew a little more. We felt there’s no better way to start off our “get-to-know-us” week then with the one who makes so many people’s dreams come true.

Chance is definitely the star of the show here. You’d never know shes almost 18. She’s the kind of horse that loves to be in front of a crowd. She thinks everyone is here to see her and don’t you dare tell her otherwise. She’s a bit of a goofball and only really shows it when she’s not in front of an audience.

Chance is a bit of a wonder pony. She does a bit of everything. From trick riding to jumping. Roman riding to driving. And everything in between.

Feel free to ask us anything about Ms. Chance. We’ll be glad to tell you all about her.

As the dust settles on a great season, we want to thank everyone for making it happen. Even with less than ideal weather every day we performed this year, we still saw so many bright, beautiful faces. We especially want to thank Providence Bay Fair and Manitowaning Fall Fair for inviting to their wonderful fairs for our debut season. We are stoked for next season and have big plans to make the show even better!
