For my first children’s book “Things That Go Varoom!!” I used my son as reference for the main character. Now as I plan my second, third, and fourth books, I am looking for your help! I am seeking adorable pictures of boys and girls between two and eight years of age. The photos do not have to be recent; it could be a picture of your child, when you were young, or even a grandparent’s baby picture.
I know that I will be overrun with gorgeous photos and I know that I will NOT be able to use all of them and for that I am extremely sorry. Please do not take it personally if I do not use your photograph, but know that I have at least four more book ideas at this moment and hope to amass a library of reference photos. Who knows, your photo could be the one that inspires book number five! I will be using several different pictures for each book(approx 1 per page)
If your photo is used as reference, you will receive a copy of the book upon completion as a thank you. Each person who submits one or more photos towards the contest will also be asked to ‘like’ my page(not required, but appreciated) When I reach 500 likes, one of the photos will be drawn at random to be reproduced as an independent art piece and the person who owned the photo will receive the original art piece free of charge.
I will keep you all updated on my books as I go and you will be able to see week by week the process of creating a children’s book. From sketch, to layout, to final art piece, you will become a part of my journey. And for those of you who are aspiring artists, stay tuned as I share tips about everything from strategic camera angles, artistic techniques, to ways of achieving your own ‘stamp’ as an artist.
As an important aside, ALL PHOTOS SUBMITTED must be owned by/permission given to the person who is entering them, and not sourced through sites such as google. Photos posted to this site are done so with the understanding that they will be used as reference, printed and sold by Kristi Osinga. If chosen Parents/guardians will be required to sign a waiver giving permission for their child's likeness to be in one of my books. Please no nudity, as all children must be fully clothed in pictures submitted to my page. Thank you!
