Wow, what a wonderful week for Vive la Danse's first ever dance festival as a new studio! We are so humbled by how amazing our community is; you brought these dancers out to do what they love and they had a blast. And of course, we had the best time cheering them on!

What an honour it was to dance alongside so many amazing studios at and receive 1st runnerup for the Top Studio Award while at the Showdown Challenge tonight. We sure have a few things to decorate with once we are back in the studio tomorrow!

We are so proud of every single one of our dancers that competed this week and those who performed at the Sylvan Lake Trade Show. We see your growth and your grit, and we can't wait to see what this next week brings.

At Vive la Danse, we combine our Lyrical and Contemporary training since there is a lot of crossover, and though it is one of our most popular classes, we often get asked what each one means.
•
Lyrical is a beautiful, expressive dance style that focuses on telling the story the lyrics of the song provides. It marries ballet and jazz technique, showcasing long, sustained lines and powerful jumps and turns. Dancers absolutely love the way they can express themselves and use their breath to make their story come to life.

We absolutely love our preschool classes! Not only do they fill the studio with laughter and say the darndest things, but we get to see exponential growth in them in so many different areas.

The technical foundations of flexibility, learning the coordination that comes with introductory steps, finding their voices to tell their teachers and their friends all sorts of things, learning to count together, learning their right and left...it's always so much more than dance; it's foundations for life.

Our February Break Acro Workshops are open for registration!
•
Join us for strength, flexibility, conditioning, and progressions up to and including the skill focus in each workshop. February 17 & 19, we have a side aerial workshop as well as a back handspring workshop. February 18 & 20, we have a front aerial workshop and a back tuck/back layout workshop. Each workshop spans the two days, 1.5hours each day. Spaces are limited.
*
Please note: dancers participating in these workshops must meet the minimum skill requirements. For example, you cannot learn the higher-level progressions for your front aerial if you do not yet have a front walkover.
