Production Assistant (Canada Summer Jobs)
Organisation: Royal Canadian Theatre Company
Deadline to Apply: JUNE 30, 2026

Dates of Employment: July 2 to August 27, 2026
Commitment: 30 hours a week (240 hours total)

Job Description: This is a seasonal role offered through the Canada Summer Jobs Grant. The start date is July 1, 2026 and is 30 hours a week for 8 weeks. The Production Assistant will be working under the direction and mentorship of the current General Manager, Crystal Weltzin.

Responsibilities:
Distributing graphic images, posters, rack cards and content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X and to Surrey/New Westminster facilities.
Write and build newsletters on Moosend and press releases for 2026/2027 productions
Build production schedules for Fall and Winter productions.
Assist and oversee the first part of rehearsal and production for “Murder for Two” in August.
Facilitate production meeting for “Murder for Two”.

Applicants will need to be able to work remotely. A Laptop can be provided by request.

Qualifications:
Confidence with Social Media, and Canva.
Experience with Microsoft Word, Pages or Google Docs and writing effectively.
Fluent in English
Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or person who has been granted refugee status under the immigration and protection act.
Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial legislation and regulations. International students are not eligible participants. Recent immigrants are eligible if they’re Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

Remuneration: $18.25

Casting non-union Principal roles - Honorarium paid (20’s and up).
All ethnicities and backgrounds are encouraged to audition. Character descriptions on our website. Singing and dancing required for all characters.

Be prepared to read sides from the script and sing 1 minute of a song, either A Ca****la or bring a device to play your track (Your phone is acceptable). You may be asked to do a short movement sequence.

**While there is some flexibility in the rehearsal schedule for conflicts if you are not available, in general, for the set rehearsal schedule either ask about your conflicts or do not submit.

***There will be reserve rehearsals for Principal characters starting Thursdays Nov 17th.

Casting paid, non-union role, 25-40 years old, female presenting, to play THE SUSPECTS. All ethnicities and backgrounds are encouraged to audition. (Please note: the role of Marcus has been cast).This role requires a high skill level of piano playing, singing ability and performance. Comedic skills, some dance and ability to improv are assets. The actor cast as THE SUSPECTS needs a high energy and versatile performance that can switch between the 10 different characters at the drop of a hat.
Vocal range: Bb3-E5 (as written, but can be transposed)
Grade 9 RCM piano ability for the most difficult passages of music.

Auditions by electronic submission.
2 min video recording accompanying yourself singing a comedic song
1 min comedic monologue sample.
