What happens after our final performance this afternoon, you might wonder?

We’ll gather together to clean the theatre before heading across the street to the Municipal Hall for our potluck and cast party.

At the party, we celebrate our cast and crew. While our audiences see and hear the incredible work of many performers and crew members during each production, this is our chance to recognize and thank the board and directing team, whose behind-the-scenes efforts are just as vital to the success of our drama club.

This year, we’d like to give a special thank-you to Glenn Kingdon, our sets director, who built (from scratch) the amazing floor piano featured in the show. There are many others to recognize as well, so be sure to check the back page of your program for a full list of directors and their committees. Each person plays an important role in delivering a top-notch performance for our audience.

Community theatre truly is about community. None of us could do this alone, and that includes you - our audience. We are deeply grateful for the support and dedication of our entire drama family.

Planning for our 43rd production begins right after today’s cast party, so stay tuned for updates on what’s next for SDC!

Okay, Strathclair Drama Club fans - we need your help! We have some tickets available for our Monday - Wednesday shows of Big - The Musical. Know someone who would like to see the show? Two run-through performances are done, two dress rehearsals are left and then it is show week!

Love the 80s? This show is for you - costumes, props, and set designs that will take you back. The orchestra, cast, and crew have been hard at work since January, and they are excited to perform for you! Spread the word and help us sell out our show!

Okay - who is excited for production week? We are one week away, and things at the theatre will be busy this week! Did you know that leading up to production week, the cast and crew of the SDC also complete two run-throughs and two dress rehearsals? This is our opportunity to bring all the cast and crew members together to run through the play several times to ensure that all elements of the production are ready for our audience.

This year, we are renting a portable washroom trailer from Pugh's Pumping to help meet the needs of our audience. A BIG shout-out to Chris Pugh for the great deal!

If you haven't committed to purchasing tickets yet, please do so soon! Tickets are still available (mostly for earlier in the week). If you aren't sure of the storyline, the Tom Hanks movie version is available on Disney+ or here is a quick synopsis for you: Twelve-year-old Josh Baskin knows one thing for sure - being a scrawny kid isn’t easy. When a mysterious arcade machine magically grants his wish to be older, Josh suddenly finds himself navigating life in an adult’s world. As he takes on new responsibilities and unexpected challenges, he quickly realizes that growing up isn’t quite as simple as he imagined. Based on the hit 1988 film, Big-The Musical is a heartwarming and entertaining musical adventure that’s perfect for audiences of all ages.
