Thank you to all students, parents, their family and friends who attended the student art exhibition reception last week Wednesday at The Arts Guild. It was an amazing turnout of over 200 people who came to support the artists and view the wide array of beautiful artworks from all ages.

The exhibition ran until this past Saturday and I want to thank everyone who spent their time to view the artworks on the public days of the exhibition. I am grateful to be able to share my time with everyone and it is truly a privilege to be a part of my students art journey in their life. I am aware that the only reason I can do this is because of the adult students and parents supporting these classes. Thank you so much to everyone.

I look forward to another month of classes in Term 3 (May-June) before the big summer break. After which I will depart to Italy to complete my master’s degree for the summer.

Art Lessons will resume mid-September for the academic year (Sept 2026-June 2027). In a few week’s time, I will post updated information regarding registration/fees/calendar/ etc. for Term 1 of the next academic year (Sept-December 2026).

Please stay tuned for updates: https://katarinamccourt.ca/art-lessons/

Best regards,
Katarina

I want to share another round of beautiful artworks recently completed by the adult students in the Adult Comprehensive Group art class.

Students are currently working on a black paper drawing project using Prismacolor coloured pencils. The project is valuable to train one’s perception of light and shadow and for noticing subtleties of contrast. By drawing on black paper, we become attuned to noticing the lighter shade values, (rather than the darks), expanding and heightening our perception and range of values.

There are many more exquisite pieces still unfolding. I look forward to sharing more beautiful works as they come to fruition.

Happy Easter weekend, everyone! 🐣🌸

I’d love to share a few new artworks created by my child art students. The kids have been working very hard this term, and a few have recently completed their pieces!

This term, students explored both acrylic painting and coloured pencil drawing. We started with the fundamentals on colour theory, colour mixing, and brush handling, then moved into a guided landscape painting. From there, students applied what they learned to their own personal painting projects.

Some groups have already begun their next project: coloured pencil drawing using Prismacolor pencils. Students are learning blending and layering techniques to create vibrant, lifelike results.

Stay tuned, as there are many more beautiful artworks to come from both the kids and adult groups! 😊

I want to wish everyone a prosperous and wonderful upcoming New Year 2026! ✨
Term 1 of art classes has officially come to an end, closing out 2025. (Term 2 registration is now open!)

Students have worked diligently and patiently to refine their technical drawing and painting skills, and I would love to share a few of the many beautiful artworks my art students have recently completed. All of these charcoal drawings were created by adult students in the Adult Comprehensive Class during Term 1 (Fall–Winter 2025).

Stay tuned for more artworks from my other classes including the kids, teens and other adult groups in the coming months.

There will be a short break from art lessons over the next few weeks, and Term 2 will begin the week of January 18th. I really look forward to seeing everyone again very soon and meeting new students.

Registration is now open for new students who wish to enhance their art skills to a high level in realistic drawing and painting techniques.
Lessons are available for young children (ages 7–9), kids 10+, teens 13+, and multiple adult classes covering different subjects and levels.
