Behind The Art | Spirit Island, Maligne Lake

Alice Saltiel-Marshall’s Spirit Island, Maligne Lake depicts one of Jasper National Park’s iconic landscapes through the serigraphy process.

The composition centers Spirit Island against the still waters of Maligne Lake, framed by layered mountain forms and an expansive sky. Simplified forms, tonal balance, and a muted palette give the scene a timeless quality while emphasizing the quiet geometry of land, water, and forest.

Created as a limited-edition serigraph, the work is a printmaking piece rooted in Canadian landscape and classic printmaking traditions.

Alice Saltiel-Marshall (1940–2019) was a Canadian artist whose work continues to reflect her deep appreciation for the landscapes of the Rocky Mountains.

From Installation to Wearable Art

Created for Copper Point Resort, Lisa J. Levasseur’s new large-scale PaletteArt™ installation behind the reception desk transforms layers of 100% acrylic recycled paint into a richly textured composition of copper, bronze, charcoal and blue green.

Once the installation was completed, Levasseur carried its story into another form. Using the same left over dried acrylic paint remaining from the original artwork, she created a limited-edition collection of wearable PaletteArt™ jewellery including semi-precious jewels.
The jewellery is therefore more than a piece inspired by the installation, it is physically connected to it.

Fragments of the same acrylic paint have been reshaped into an original artwork that can be worn, preserving the colours, textures and history of its larger companion.

Together, the installation and jewellery demonstrate that a paintings’ story does not have to end when one artwork is complete. It can be recovered, reimagined, and carried forward.

Behind the Art | Girl with White Hat

Girl with White Hat presents a quiet pastoral moment, bringing together a flowering meadow, a winding path, and a solitary figure in a scene of stillness and contemplation.

Neswadba’s use of acrylic creates soft transitions of light and colour, balancing detailed foliage with atmospheric depth. A restrained palette of greens, golds, and soft florals gives the work a nostalgic, almost timeless quality, while the figure introduces a subtle sense of reflection and presence within nature.

🎨 PaletteArt™ Feature | Finding Possibility in Every Layer

What if the end of one painting became the beginning of another?

For the creative process doesn’t stop when a canvas is finished. It continues in an entirely different form through PaletteArt™, a proprietary technique that transforms leftover, dried, 100% acrylic recycled paint into original works of art.

No two PaletteArt™ pieces are ever the same. Each one is shaped by the paint that came before it, making every work a unique reflection of countless creative moments brought together in a new way.

Swipe through to discover how PaletteArt™ celebrates the unexpected possibilities that can emerge through creativity.
