Another custom from scratch replacement neck for a Gibson Grabber Bass circa 1974.
Original neck was seriously twisted and unsalvagable. The customer may? have been able to order one from the Gibson Custom Shop for $$$$! This project was a direct replica using 1/4 sawn maple with the original salvaged fingerboard/frets new mop inlays, new 2 way truss rod. The fingerboard retained the original wear and tear patina and when installed on the bass looked totally original!

Gonna share this repair from a couple of years back...
Ibanez acoustic that was in a car crash...the owner tragically did not survive. His daughter wanted the guitar restored for sentimental reasons IF POSSIBLE. Always up for a challenge...smashed in back, side, headstock broken off etc. So here are some before and after pictures...sorry, no in progress shots.

So, I just wanted to share an email that I received today from one of my former regular customers from London

Hey Rainer,

Worst thing that happened to guitarists in this city was you moving back east.

In the two years you've been gone I've tried three different techs/luthiers.

The first tech killed my Hofner. Like dead dead.

The second tech messed up my LTD Gretsch Penguin. One of only 100 made and he butchered the nut and damaged a custom made Tru-Arc stainless steel bridge.

The third, a luthier, fixed the damage the second guy did to my Penguin but then messed up my Sheraton.

Seriously not once, not ever, in 26 years did you make a mistake or fail to fix an issue. Honestly, I should have just taken a nice trip and brought them out to you. Would ultimately be cheaper and they'd have been done right the first time.

So my old friend... is there anyone in London or SW Ontario that you know that does good work? You've moved. It's no longer direct competition. Is there anyone good here with you gone?

A good tech/.luthier is worth their weight in gold pressed latinum and you are missed.

Cheers,

Joseph

By all means, please reach out and contact me at GuitarWorks (a business name that I have been operating under for 30+years...not to be confused with any other recently launched businesses)
Thanks
