Shakespeare By The Sea Festival - St. John's Our 34th season awaits in summer of 2026

Host of - A Great Feast of Languages John's area and celebrates its 30th season in 2023.

Shakespeare By The Sea Festival Inc., a community-based, charitable organization, produces and promotes artistic works with a focus on William Shakespeare. Our organization unites seasoned and developing talent and aspires to excel in all aspects of our work. stival has been performing the works of that famous Bard all around the St. John's area – from the cliff-top meadows of Logy Bay to the historic World War Two bunkers at Cape Spear – from the cobblestoned courtyard of the Murray Premises to the lush landscapes of Bowring Park. Since that time, the Festival has grown into a much-anticipated annual event. Shakespeare By The Sea Festival Inc. is a registered charity (No. 891781841RR0001) with the Canada Revenue Agency and is a member of the Shakespeare Theatre Association of America.

WOW - we already have over 35 bookings for both in-person and self-tape auditions for our 2026 season!

But we'd love to see you too, as there are lots of roles available, of all sorts...

for those who have NEVER ACTED, but always wanted to try...

for those who HAVEN'T ACTED IN YEARS, but might love to again..
for those who DON'T SEE THEMSELVES REPRESENTED on stage often enough...
..why not give it a try?

Our vision is that everyone - YES, EVERYONE! - have opportunities to enjoy and engage with Shakespeare through work that resonates beyond the stage.

In person auditions will take place on Saturday April 18 and Sunday April 19 at the St. John's Arts and Culture Centre - but you must request a timeslot via our Google Form (found on the webpage below).

Self-tape submissions must be received by 5pm NST on Sunday, April 19 - and please also complete the Google Form (found on the webpage below).

One (1) position available - wages and hours offered to the successful candidate are dependent on the student's status, as stipulated by wonderful folks at Memorial's Centre for Social Enterprise:

Graduate students will qualify for:
24 hours/week at $24.32/hour

Undergraduate students will qualify for:
19 hours/week at $18.65/hour
