Summer Youth Company

Hello everyone

Due to some scheduling issues and helpful feedback from the community, we have to change our project for Summer Youth Company this year. We will not being doing Seussical, so auditions will be canceled for March 17th. Instead we are offering a one week program for ages 15 - 20 that is geared towards working on individual monologues and songs and working with your peers in preparing musical theatre group numbers to showcase at the end of the week. It’s a first come first served bases so space will be limited.

It will also include our initial vision of SYC; to educate our performers with techniques and a skill set that is an asset when working in a theatre environment which requires you to learn new material in a short amount of time. We will also work on how to prepare for an auditon.

If you are interested, please send a deposit of $25.00 to claim your spot and the remaining $325.00 is due a week before the program begins.
The dates are Monday July 9th - 13th with dress rehearsal and performance on Monday July 16th.

OUR INSTRUCTORS:

Peter MacDonald is proud to be a local performer, director and voice teacher. Together with his wife Ronalda he operates a vocal studio in their home, where they teach a roster of over 100 students.

He studied at the Banff School of Fine Arts, Dalhousie University with Jeff Morris and Elvira Gonella, and in Toronto under the famed Bernard Diamont. His performing experience began at Neptune theatre in Halifax and has performed on various stages across Canada. He has appeared as soloist with Newfoundland and Nova Scotia Symphony Orchestra and is also the founder of the Historic Feast Company in Halifax.

In 1990 he moved to St. John’s, NL with his young wife and 1st child where he taught music in the public school system, began various theatre projects, and began his private vocal studio. 28 years and 3 more children later, Peter has a life time experience of inspiring young people to work for success in the performing arts. His former students can be found on stages in Europe, USA (Broadway) and Canada.

In 1996 Peter MacDonald produced his 1st large scale musical theatre production (Scrooge) at the St. John’s Arts and Culture Centre. Since that time Peter has produced and directed over 30 shows including “Anything Goes”, “Tarzan”, “The Addam’s Family”, “Beauty And The Beast”, “Annie”, “Hairspray” and most recently his own original script “Santa’s Place”.

Peter is also the music director at First United Church in Mount Pearl, where he leads 3 choirs, and is an active member of a vital and progressive ministry team. Peter delights in being involved with students, family and friends in a wonderful world of creativity, music making and live theatre.
