Heartbeat 2026

What everyone sees on the outside is another dance competition! What are we really doing??

Well we are ….
- making memories
- building friendships and bonds
- learning to be gracious winners & when we don’t win still be grateful
- living our best life on stage
- overcoming fears
- pushing limits
- creating backstage handshakes
- doing our backstage rituals with our dance besties
- giving good luck hugs
- cheering each other on
- growing with each performance
- building resilience
- improving technique & performance qualities
- nailing that one skill we have been working on
- learning how to be laser focused and self disciplined
- being equally crazy and wild when the times right
- crying
- uncontrollably laughing
- comforting each other
& so much more

We do this and give up months because WE LOVE BEING ON STAGE! But we also do this because this is our time to truly connect and bond as a team!

Heartbeat was an awesome time as always! We are so proud of the dancers for how they showed up on and off the stage!

Big Congrats to Pop!, Covergirls, A New Day & Never Love Again for dancing and placing in Showcase! Another big congrats to Adrianna, Anna, Aveleigh, Kennedy, Layla, Ava, Madi, Brooke, Quinn, Anna & Aveleigh and Layla & Brooke for receiving scholarships and placing overall with high scores!

We are so full! After a wonderful competition season!!

WHY WE DON’T POST SCORES OR PLACING ❤️

I made this decision 13 years ago! This was one of the most important decisions I have made to this day! Because so many things ride on it! Of course we are proud of our dancers accomplishments but it goes beyond that!

& HERE’S WHY:
- Because your worth is not dictated by the color of the medal or placement you receive
- Because every dancers journey is different! No journey is linear!
- Because it’s about progress not perfection!
- Because it’s about the little wins for us! The dancer who has worked their butt off to touch the floor or the kid who is finally getting over their self doubt! It’s about the team who finally nails the timing we’ve been working so hard on or the one skill they thought they would never get!
- Because sometimes dancers just showing up is a huge win! When situations beyond their control make it feel like an impossible task!
- Because your value on our team does not diminish because you had an off dancing day! Every team member has their own strengths and is an important part of our team!
- Because dance competitions are so subjective! The dance you perform at one competition could get the high diamond one time and silver the next! Purely based on adjudicator preference! Every judge is looking for something different and there’s no real scale or consistency in the marking system across the competition scene!
- Because the medal or placing does not reflect the hard work someone has put in to get there!

MOST IMPORTANTLY we are proud of each and every dancer for their accomplishments!

We go to competitions for the chance to dance on stage! Because truly that’s our favourite place to be!

We go because feedback from the adjudicators can be so helpful! Even if dancers have heard the same thing one million times a different wording or analogy could help that correction stick!

We go because as dance teachers and studio owner, we have friends in the industry we only get see at dance competitions! Seeing our dance besties and debriefing about our seasons helps reset our minds and hearts!

We go because dancers have friends who dance at other studios! How fun to cheer on our friends!

Debut St Albert ❤️

First stop on our competition tour this season! Our dancers were not only amazing dancers but they also stepped up in a huge way being incredible kids! They cheered each other on way, helped with the littles, gave encouragement to other dancers and carried themselves in such a professional way!

A huge congratulations for all your accomplishments! Big congrats to BUY ME! for winning Runner Up Div IV in Showcase! Congratulations to Beach Day, Ribbit, Buy Me, Never Love Again and Lovely for making showcase! Congratulations to our very own Aveleigh for winning Dancer of the Year!! Extra congrats to Teagan, Petra, Aveleigh, Layla, Ava & Emmha, Layla & Mya, Never Love Again, Beach Day and Buy Me! for receiving overall high mark awards and scholarships!!

Getting to watch all of our dancers on stage of such a special gift! DANCERS remember your marks and medals do not define you! The hardwork you put in, the progress you have made, the little wins that turn into big changes and the character you bring with you MATTER MORE! Use these next couple of months to grow and love your time on stage! Because at the end of this you will remember the feeling and growth you made! Not the medal you were given! Here’s to more beautiful on stage moments & memories that will last a lifetime!
