ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: ROBIN LAYNE & THE RHYTHM MAKERS

Our next Desert Daze artist spotlight features Robin Layne & The Rhythm Makers, taking the stage Friday evening at 5:45 p.m.!

Led by JUNO-nominated percussionist and marimba player Robin Layne, this groove-heavy ensemble blends Afro-Latin rhythms, jazz, folk and world music into an uplifting sound that’s made for the festival stage.

Inspired by Robin’s musical travels and studies in Cuba, West Africa, Mexico and beyond, the Rhythm Makers place the warm, melodic sound of the marimba front and centre. Their vibrant rhythms, rich musicianship and infectious energy are sure to get Desert Daze moving!

Our next Desert Daze artist spotlight features Wander North, taking the stage Saturday evening at 8:15 p.m.!

Hailing from Kamloops, B.C., Wander North describes its sound as Northern Rock—a distinctly Canadian blend of powerful rock, memorable melodies and heartfelt songwriting.

The band’s self-titled debut album showcases an energetic and authentic sound shaped by their life and experiences in British Columbia. Their music is made for the festival stage, and their Saturday-evening performance will keep the energy building as we head toward our grand finale !

Our next Desert Daze artist spotlight features local favourites Jenny & The Gents, taking the stage Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m.!

Based in the Interior of British Columbia, Jenny & The Gents deliver an impressively eclectic mix of classic rock, blues, country and crowd favourites—all powered by Jennifer Ferguson’s commanding vocals and a band of seasoned musicians.

Their performances celebrate the music many of us grew up with, bringing familiar songs to life with plenty of energy, personality and musicianship. Whether you want to sing along or get up and dance, Jenny & The Gents know how to connect with a festival crowd!

Our next Desert Daze artist spotlight features the wonderfully wild Blackberry Wood, taking the stage Friday night at 8:30 p.m.!

Hailing from Vancouver, Blackberry Wood describes itself as a bohemian, foot-stomping alt-country circus band—and that only begins to capture the experience!

Blending alt-country, folk, rock and ska with guitars, horns, accordion, percussion and plenty of theatrical personality, Blackberry Wood turns every stage into a joyful, high-energy dance party. Their performances combine infectious rhythms, colourful costumes, hypnotic storytelling and a touch of travelling-carnival magic.

The band has entertained audiences at festivals throughout Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom—including several appearances at the legendary Glastonbury Festival.

BLAKE HAVARD 🎶

Our next Desert Daze artist spotlight features Canadian country and Americana singer-songwriter Blake Havard!

Originally from Alberta and now based in Vancouver, Blake brings a distinctive blend of country, Americana, blues and roots rock to the stage. A gifted singer, guitarist, songwriter and producer, he combines thoughtful storytelling with memorable melodies and the warmth and honesty of great country music.

Blake has earned the respect of some outstanding musicians throughout his career, including members of Bryan Adams’ band, Bob Dylan’s band and the Foo Fighters. Whether performing with his band or simply singing with his guitar, his songs have an authentic, lived-in quality that connects with audiences.

Our next Desert Daze artist spotlight features the incomparable Jack Garton & The Dream Band, closing the festival Saturday night at 9:30 p.m.

A gifted singer-songwriter, accordionist and trumpeter, Jack Garton brings together folk and roots music with rockabilly, doo-wop, blues and a touch of the unexpected. His songs are witty, poetic and full of vivid storytelling, while his energetic performances create a genuine connection with every audience.

Backed by The Dream Band, Jack’s live show is theatrical, spontaneous and wonderfully difficult to categorize—exactly the kind of unforgettable performance we want to close out Desert Daze!

With only three weeks to go until Desert Daze, we’re excited to begin introducing the incredible performers joining us this year!

Kicking off our artist spotlights is the powerhouse Cat Wells Blues Band, performing Friday night at 9:30 p.m.

Cat Wells is a Canadian blues vocalist and songwriter known for her commanding stage presence and powerful, gritty voice. Inspired by Billie Holiday, Etta James and Janis Joplin, Cat brings soulful intensity to an irresistible blend of blues and funk—all delivered with an energetic, danceable groove.
