It's actually a radio program on Sooke Community Radio (www.sooke.live) but yeah, performance art fits as well since I kind of fuddle with the radio form itself!

Catching up on the previous episodes, here's another one of my afternoon show fill ins for the program "Almost There" back at the beginning of May. Includes computer cowboy music and Ohio student killings commemoration. And Tammy Wynette.

It seems that "afternoon drive home DJ" might be a thing for me to do... for now!

Tonight's program is a special presentation of a single new work: visual artist and composer E.-Clark Cornell's "Hum of the Void" is a 2 hour 30 minute piano centered electronic tribute to artist Yves Klein (1928-1962). It appeared in segments on bandcamp last month under the series name "IKB Memo", for IKB, "International Klein Blue", a color he created and collectively, it takes you through quite a journey with rich resonant tones constantly spiced up by various distant and also resonant sounds. And of course a few surprises too!

Cornell liked the idea of a single presentation and has provided an in depth 20 minute introduction that precedes the unbroken broadcast of this world radio premiere! 6-9 p.m. Pacific Surfing Time and repeated Thursday 8-11 p.m.

The May 3rd program, in which I begin the first of four CDs containing the single work, Morton Feldman's "For Philip Guston" and during the first hour, take you back to 1979 since I got a copy of the Kitchen CD that has recordings of the very first night of New Music New York 1979. Plus squawk reports, of course.

Aired at www.sooke.live on Sunday, May 3, 2026 from 6 to 9 p.m. (and reaired on Thursday May 7 from 8 to 11 p.m.)

Catching up on transcripts/posts for programs, here's FPE #29 from April 26, featuring David Soldier's "Stuff Smith’s Unfinished Concerto: Music Starts when Words Leave Off" and a few pop tunes that don't get their proper context on commercial radio! And the continuing presentation of Jon Rose and Dr. Hollis Taylor's "Whistling in the Dark" where the Pied Butcherbird (I actually say "Pied Piperbird" a couple of times!) is paired with different musical improvisers to add to my squawk reports.

I've started picking up some Almost There programs to fill in for and this was my first one, auspiciously and coincidentally timed on a day where the subject matter was as easy as h**p pie!

In which I guest hosted the afternoon drive home show (we have really one road leading into town, so the traffic reports are brief!) on a day appropriate for me to host it!

Last week's program, my second part of my tribute to New Music America 1986, with lots of rare goodies (albeit questionable sound quality). Squawk report contained within but I'll look to creating some edits from the programs to continue putting them on soundcloud as well!

You can hear it live from 6 - 9 p.m., Pacific Surfing Time, every Sunday night at www.sooke.live

Sunday April 12th program, in which I present the first of two programs of What-I-Did-In-My-26th-Year anniversary/remembrance of travelling to the New Music America festival in April of 1986. It was in Houston, Texas and I barely scratched the surface even though I seemed to have talked more than usual. There is a squawk report within, as I didn't have time to pretape that segment!

As heard (now on Sunday evenings!) at www.sooke.live

My first Sunday live program, having the Thursday program put to rest, was reborn on Easter Sunday. Just a coincidence, but there are no coincidences.

This being my first live radio Sunday program since 1993, when I hosted a program on Moncton's French University station. It's known in the Biz as "The Graveyard of Quality Radio Programming".

Transcript, audio and links from last Thursday's program (the last live on Thursday as I move to Sundays on April 5, Happy Easter/Equinox! Apologies for the flub that chopped four minutes of a work in the first hour - I've learned "do not insert or remove a flash drive from the board during a program" or something of the sort!

No title for this one - aired on Sooke Community Radio (www.sooke.live) on Thursday, March 26, 2026. The program's live sessions die on Easter Thursday, to be reborn Easter Sunday, April 5!
