🎶 Volunteer Update! 🎶

The response from our community has been incredible — thank you! We've filled most of our volunteer positions for Friday night at the Sooke Music & Art Festival.

We still have a few volunteer openings available on Saturday, and we'd love to have you join the team. Volunteers help make the festival possible while enjoying great music, amazing people, and a behind-the-scenes festival experience.

🐾 A Friendly Reminder About Dogs at the Festival 🐾

We love our four-legged friends, but the Sooke Music and Art Festival must follow the rules and regulations that apply to Fred Milne Park.

For the safety and enjoyment of all festival guests, and in accordance with posted park regulations, dogs are not permitted within the festival grounds during the event. The District of Sooke's park regulations require visitors to obey posted restrictions and signs within parks.

We know many of you would love to bring your furry companions, but with large crowds, live music, food vendors, children, and busy event activities, it's best for everyone if pets stay home and enjoy a relaxing weekend of their own.

Thank you for helping us create a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for all festival-goers. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

The news about Rifflandia being canceled is a reminder that music festivals don't just happen on their own. They survive because communities show up, buy tickets, volunteer, sponsor, and support local artists and organizers year after year.

Festivals are more than entertainment. They create opportunities for musicians, bring people together, support local businesses, and help define the culture and character of our communities.

If we want live music, local talent, and community celebrations to continue thriving on Vancouver Island, it's important to support the festivals we still have. Every ticket purchased, every share on social media, and every person who attends makes a difference.

Sooke has lost one of its own. Gord Phillips was more than a talented musician—he was a huge part of the heart and soul of our community. Through his music, his friendship, his stories, and his presence, Gord brought people together and helped make Sooke the special place it is.
Whether you knew him from the stage, around town, or simply through the joy his music brought, Gord left a lasting impression on countless lives. His passion for music and his genuine connection with people will be remembered for years to come.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends, fellow musicians, and everyone whose life was touched by Gord. The Sooke community will feel his absence deeply, but his legacy will live on in the memories, laughter, and music he shared with us all.
Rest easy, Gord. Thank you for the songs, the friendship, and the gift of being such an important part of our community. You will be greatly missed. 🎶❤️
