Sooke Music Festival 🎶 Since 2016, the Sooke Music and Art Festival has brought our community together to celebrate local music, art, and culture in beautiful Sooke, BC.

Join us for a vibrant annual weekend of creativity, connection, and community spirit! 🎨 The Sooke music and Art festival is a free, family-friendly, music and art festival held in the heart of Sooke each summer. We showcase known and unknown musical acts from Vancouver Island. There is so much talent here on the island we needn't look any further. We also feature visual artists of all types.

Okay, we know these aren’t *actually* costumes. 😂 They’re the ridiculous fake costume ads/memes that make the rounds every Halloween — and honestly, some of them are pretty damn good.

So, in the spirit of musical nonsense, we thought we’d share a few of our favourites. 🎸👻

**Boy Band:** Comes with beanies, dirty Vans, empty Red Bulls and living with your parents. 💀

**Half-Ass Musician:** Mic stand, tablet, microphone and absolutely zero eye contact. Talent sold separately. 😂

**Trumpet Player:** Double high C juice included. Musical taste, humility and functional embouchure? Apparently not.

**Really Cool Bass Player:** Blond wig. Leather jacket. Red bass. One size fits most. 😎

☕️ **A little behind-the-scenes Festival Frankie fuel…**

There’s a lot that goes into making a little funky music festival happen.

There’s the obvious stuff: booking bands, building schedules, wrangling volunteers and figuring out how to turn a patch of grass into a festival.

And then there’s the *other* stuff.

Writing grants.
Chasing funding.
Answering emails.
Running the Sooke Battle of the Bands.
Listening to approximately eleventy-million band submissions.
Scoping out artists at shows.
Talking to musicians, agents, sponsors and community partners.
Planning for 2027 while still recovering from 2026.
And generally keeping all the little wheels turning behind the scenes.

So what powers all this?

✨ **Magic Beans.** ✨

Okay… coffee.

But calling it *coffee* doesn't quite capture the role it plays around here. 😂

A big shout-out to our friends at The Stick in the Mud’s Roastoreum for keeping Festival Frankie properly caffeinated — and to Sooke Radio Society for the mug that makes the whole operation look slightly more official.

Because apparently, building a festival is part community organizing, part event production, part grant writing…

Last year, entered the Sooke Battle of the Bands.

A few months later, he was standing on the stage at the **2026 Sooke Music & Art Festival**.

Coincidence? We prefer to call it a very good opportunity. 😉

One of the things I love most about the Sooke Music & Art Festival is what happens in between festivals — the connections that continue long after the last note is played.

We hang out. We laugh. We check in. We share meals, ideas, music, stories and a little bit of chaos. 😂 We inspire each other, support each other’s dreams, have each other’s backs, and genuinely care about each other.

Because somewhere along the way, we became more than just a team putting on an event.

We became family. ❤️
