PAYMENTS
All class fees must be paid on time in order for athletes to participate.
Payments can be made by e-transfer of $150 per class + HST STARTING SEPT 2nd to [email protected] or save by paying cash directly to our Admin Team at drop-off
If paying cash, please make sure it is handed directly to our team rather than sent into class with your athlete as they may forget.
Athletes with any outstanding payment will not be permitted to enter class until payment has been received. We hate having to turn anyone away, so please make sure payments are taken care of before or at drop-off.
ARRIVAL & DROP-OFF & PICK UP
Please arrive dressed and ready for class. Athletes should arrive no earlier than 5 minutes early so classes can begin on time and not disrupt the class ahead of them.
For athletes old enough to attend independently, drop-off is encouraged. Keeping our entrances and class areas clear allows our coaches to focus on the athletes and helps classes run smoothly.
Please make sure your athlete has everything they need with them before entering.
If your athlete has an alternate person picking them up please let staff know, if you are running late please let us know.
Pickups later than 5mins past pick up may be subject to childcare/ daycare fee.
WHAT TO WEAR
Athletes should wear comfortable, fitted athletic or dance clothing that allows coaches to clearly see alignment and safely correct technique.
Hair should be secured away from the face.
Please bring the appropriate footwear for your athlete's program. (jazz shoes for jazz, tap shoes for tap etc) If you are unsure which shoes are required, please ask before purchasing.
No jewellery or anything that may become a safety concern during class.
Please bring a full water bottle, we have a refill station for small refills- Star Pointe water bottles are available for $5.
- Please see our facebook post about wardrobe for visualization.
BATHROOMS
Please encourage athletes to use the bathroom before arriving whenever possible.
Our bathrooms are available when needed, but we try to keep class interruptions to a minimum so athletes get the most out of their scheduled class time.
PARKING & DROP-OFF
As Of September 14th we will be using our new entrance and waiting area! Our entrance is now located at the side of the house, the door will be marked. No outdoor foot ware welcome passed the new waiting area.
Please be mindful of other families arriving and leaving, and do not block vehicles, entrances or driveways. Please use the "bran side" when entering.
At busy class-change times, please keep drop-off and pick-ups away from the parking area as quick as possible so traffic can continue moving safely.
SNOW DAYS & WEATHER
If weather conditions make travel unsafe, classes will be cancelled. We follow schools (and sometimes more)
Because some of our athletes are at the studio as late as 9:00 PM, and some drive themselves, we make weather decisions based on the conditions expected throughout the full evening, not just what the roads look like at the beginning of classes.
Any closure will be communicated to families via email and facebook as soon as a decision has been made.
If we are open but you personally do not feel comfortable travelling, please always make the safest decision for your family. - SNOW DAY CHALLENGES (WITH PRIZES) WILL BE ASSIGNED!
MISSED CLASSES
If your athlete is going to miss class, please let us know.
We understand that sickness, school events, family commitments and life happen! A quick message helps our coaches plan appropriately, especially for classes working on choreography, formations or performances. Reach out via facebook, email or send a text to 613 206 4555
COMMUNICATION
Please remember that coaches are actively teaching during class hours and may not be available to answer messages immediately.
For questions about registration, payments or administrative matters, please call us during office hours Monday & Wednesday 10am - 3pm
If something happens during class that you would like to discuss, please follow our 24-hour rule rather than approaching a coach during another athlete's class, at show or in a public setting.
SHOWS, EVENTS & PERFORMANCES
Throughout the semester, athletes will have opportunities to participate in showcases, community events, conventions, semi pro events, auditions, parades and other Star Pointe performances.
Specific information including arrival times, clothing, hair, makeup and other requirements will always be sent closer to each event.
Please watch your email and our team communications so you don't miss important updates. Please understand that members are selected for events based on a multiple aspects of performance such as coachability, attendance, and overall work ethic.
A FINAL REMINDER
Our goal is for Star Pointe to be a place where athletes can learn, work hard, make friends, try new things and feel proud of what they accomplish.
Please help us keep classes positive by encouraging your athlete, supporting their teammates and allowing our coaches to coach.
A Quick Introduction ⭐
For those who don’t know me yet, hi! I’m Coach Alyscha, owner and head coach of Star Pointe CDT. I’ve spent my entire life in the dance and cheer world, coaching over 30 teams to national winning titles, and proudly known as one of the founders of the POM style here in Canada! I’m a former Ottawa REDBLACKS cheerleader, Smiths Falls Recreation Hall of Fame inductee and, in a plot twist I’m still not over, I can now add performing professionally with The Wiggles to the list.
You’ll also see lots of Miss Ellie, our studio assistant. She has been teaching along side me for 5 years and has grown through Star Pointe as an athlete, performer, demonstrator and coach and has become a huge part of our program. She continues to train and take on opportunities outside the studio, including with Ballet Jörgen, REDBLACKS ACADEMY and is now both an UP Ambassador and RAC N’ ROLL Ambassador. Ellie will be teaching Monday night ballet/lyrical and jazz/hip hop by herself this semester, welcome Coach Ellie!
Between the two of us, you’ll see us teaching, choreographing, organizing performances, and cheering louder way than necessary from the sidelines/ wings.
I'm very proud of the community we’ve all built at Star Pointe and can’t wait to get to know our new families and welcome our returning ones back for another season. We have a busy and exciting semester ahead, and can't wait to get started!
See you at the farm!
Alyscha Morrison
