Glenwood Hall

Glenwood Hall Community hall on the Telkwa High Road,15 km from Smithers BC
popular for weddings, reunions, dances or other special events.

Built by the residents of the Driftwood/Glentanna area this Hall has been the community hub for over 60 years. Rustic and welcoming, the hall is going through a period of restoration and improvement. New washrooms, improved parking and well upgrades have been added, as well as a new front porch roof and beautiful signs on the building and at the road. More improvements are planned for the winter of 2014/2015.

Please share widely, carpool with your neighbors, babysit your grand kids... whatever it takes to get as many people out to these as possible. To be clear... this will focus on livestock planning but there will be a small fire smarting your property component. A lot of discussion, planning, and action needs to happen around the bigger wildfire issue... but lets make sure we're taking little steps along the way... please come. Thanks.

Volunteer opportunity:

The Glenwood Hall Committee is currently seeking a volunteer treasurer for our board. This position is vital to our hall management, and requires approximately a 1 hour per week time commitment.

The Glenwood Hall Committee is a fun bunch of folks who oversee the hall maintenance and upkeep, and the hall activities (which are primarily wedding and music event bookings).

Exciting news for the Glenwood Hall!

Glenwood Hall would like to thank the Wetzin'Kwa Community Forest Corporation for their generous approval of our grant submission for $10,000. This means that our stage 3 hall renovations can now go ahead. We will have a new floor, fascia, and various others upgrades.

Hello all,

Mark Perry & Rachelle Van Zanten and their talented band, Mark Thibeault & Madeline Lough, played a fundraising concert on Friday night.

What a huge success! The hall was packed, there was dancing and a couple sing-a-longs and everyone just soaking up some of the amazing musical talent we have in this valley. I feel lucky to live here.

I feel lucky that we have a venue with as much history and heart as the Glenwood Hall.

Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make this event a success and to all of the people who bought tickets.

I have been posting info re the new executive as it arrives to me. Here is another addition: Not sure who just posted 4 names as the new executive? maybe edit that and add the others: Paul Glover, Sabrina and her Mark, Grant Marleau, Debbie Walton, and Joanne.

Hopefully, the new executive will soon take over the posting, and all will be made clear.

Tonight was the 2017 Glenwood Hall AGM. 53 people were paid up as members, with 22 in attendance. Ten people offered their names or were nominated as Directors. All members nominated as Directors were voted in.

The directors will meet and decide among themselves who will be President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.

Four photographs of the Glenwood area were presented and they will be hung in the washroom hallway. Photos were taken by Robbie Robinson, Lucien Claude, Ted Dean and Leo Postma.

Long service awards were presented to Judi L'Orsa, Barb Luther and Corol Johnson. The awards were framed reproductions of the photo of the hall which is at the top of this page.
