Agrimony walks the edge between an evocative live concert and visceral contemporary dance, set to Laura Reznek’s second album.

Four dancers move through a world of animal instinct, vulnerability and transformation, inspired by the small yellow flower agrimonia eupatoria — traditionally associated with honesty and the unveiling of the truest self.

The Bulkley Valley Concert Association opens its new season with Agrimony, a genre-blurring performance that walks the edge between evocative live concert and visceral contemporary dance.

Four dancers, animal masks, a full live band and Laura Reznek’s original songs come together in a heart-centred story inspired by the small yellow flower Agrimony — a plant associated with honesty and shedding the masks we wear.

The result is a mesmerizing meeting of music, movement and story. Not to be missed.

Want a window into the creative process behind Agrimony?

Members of the company will lead a free movement workshop, suitable for all levels of movers and shakers. You’ll explore some of the physical philosophies, tools and creative avenues that were used in creating the work.

🌿 AGRIMONY — October 10 🌿

What happens when music and movement meet?

Agrimony walks the edge between an evocative live concert and visceral contemporary dance, bringing together the music of composer and multi-instrumentalist Laura Reznek with choreography by Sophie Dow.

Inspired by Laura’s second album, Agrimony takes its name from the small yellow flower agrimonia eupatoria. In plant medicine, agrimony is associated with honesty — a catalyst for dissolving the masks we create and revealing something more authentic underneath.

Four dancers move through a world that is part human, part animal, and part something harder to define, as Laura’s music carries the audience through an atmospheric and deeply physical landscape.

Guided by the Joint Indigenous Arts Advisory Circle, the program responds to priorities identified by Indigenous artists, Indigenous-led organizations, and the broader arts and culture sector.
This pilot offering will support Indigenous artists and communities while also generating insights that will help shape future Indigenous arts programs, services, and applicant supports.
