Hi Friends! A lot of changes are coming my way this summer, and I am happy to say that I will be getting more opportunities to spend with my artwork in a few short weeks. It has been a long time since I have updated my social media and website presence so I went out and bought myself a laptop so that I may keep you updated a bit more diligently about my work and projects here!
June was an intensely busy month for me with work and my commitments to the Midsummer Music Festival here in Smithers BC. I completed the largest piece of art I have ever made and am super proud of the result! it's 16 feet long by 7 feet tall! For those of you who may not have seen it yet, here is the sweet background for the children's stage, with my signature fireweed and one short-eared owl. I have seen many of these owls since the beginning of the year, mostly as I drive up to work on the Telkwa High Road, early in the morning or later in the evenings. Unlike most owls they really love open farmers fields / prairie landscapes, which really threw me for a loop at first cause I didn't know who I was looking at! They are absolutely magical to watch with their big wing pumps. I kinda like to think that mine looks like the Lorax!
I will be updating my website over the next little while and would appreciate any input that you may have about it. I am excited to start writing regular blog posts on it about my creative activities in the community and hope that you will follow along too!
