Today, we honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Ranchhouse Tattoo acknowledges that we live and work on the unceded traditional territory of the Gidimt’en Clan of the Witsuwit’en, in Cas Yikh territory.
We are grateful to be here and recognize the deep connection, history, and care that the Witsuwit’en people have for these lands.
Every day, we take time to listen, reflect, remember, and continue learning. We believe that reconciliation requires understanding the history and ongoing impacts of colonialism, including the significant and destructive role Canada has played in the displacement, oppression, and attempted erasure of Indigenous peoples and cultures.
We understand the responsibility we all have to continue learning and doing better, not just today but indefinitely.
