I painted this one quite a while ago and somehow forgot to share it.

It’s based on a photo I took while out walking last summer. The afternoon sun was blazing, casting long cool shadows across the path, and the contrast stopped me in my tracks. The scene itself was beautiful, but what really caught my attention was the way the colours seemed to vibrate against each other.

So naturally, I exaggerated them. 😊

The warm golden light, the deep blue-violet shadows, the turquoise sky peeking through the trees—it became less about painting a place and more about painting the feeling of a hot summer afternoon.

The title Summer Glow seemed fitting.

Another paint night coming up SATURDAY, June 6th Strathcona County Museum & Archives 7pm. Come and join us for a fun night painting a butterfly and a rainbow flower!

Celebrate Pride at Strathma on Saturday, June 6! 🌈

After the Strathcona County Pride Flag Raising, head over to the museum for a free drop-in community gathering from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We’ll have hands-on activities like cyanotypes, collage, zine-making, and button pins, along with local q***r organizations and our community-curated Pride exhibit.

Then, keep the celebration going that evening with our ticketed Pride Paint Night, led by local artist Andrea Krahn, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to altView Foundation.
