Spent the morning at the park stretching the body, now downstairs to the workshop to flex the creative muscles. Seems like a good day to dive into a colourful new project!

Here’s a little peek at what’s in the works. Currently custom dying newspaper, paper towel and tissue paper into bright and funky rainbow colours. 🌈 Stay tuned to see what these turn into… 👀🎨

On another note, I am seriously going to have to do a post one of these days about my love of paper towel as a texture medium for mixed media. Pretty sure I’ve used it in every piece I’ve done so far and soooo happy with the results!

I’ve been flexing my creative muscles with some new challenges recently, and I’ve found a real love for mixed media. Like any good crafter, I have a plethora of random odds and ends I’ve stashed for “someday projects,” so I figure now is as good a time as any to start actually using some these things. (Finally, a use for all those old Ardene earrings from my youth! 😂)

I conceptualized doing a mixed media peacock but wasn’t completely sure how to pull it off, fearing it quite an ambitious project. The background was a bit of an experiment, of which half eventually got covered anyway, but I have to say overall I am thrilled with how she turned out. Something about the multidimensional layers full of texture just speaks to me.

Needless to say, I’ll definitely be exploring more mixed media!
