Canadian artist Kristina Steinbring creates vibrant landscapes and still life in oil.

Canadian artist Kristina Pitcher Steinbring was born in Ontario, but spent her life traveling and spending time in various provinces from east to west. It is not surprising , then, that her oil paintings primarily focus on the beauty of the Canadian landscape and small town life. The last twenty years have been spent in Alberta, where the vast landscape and western subject matter has left her with a never ending supply of interesting scenes to paint.

Something a little different on the easel today as I prep for my upcoming shows, including one with ART SPOT CANADA 's show. I was honored to be invited to participate in this amazing show in Calgary this October. So much incredible art and energy!

This show was inspired by the last photos I took while photographing a wedding in Jasper the day before the fires led to evacuations in the area. The evening light and the smoky haze led to some beautiful, soft colors that begged to be painted. It's definitely a memorable evening, given the chaos that followed hours later.

Our asparagus patch has been producing like crazy! It has been an exercise in patience as the patch takes years to establish. These tall sweet stalks are a spring favourite for us and, of course, inspired some daily paintings. I particularly like this one with the purple accents on the asparagus tips playing against the watmmpurple backdrop.

A new painting for the series on the easel this weekend. This little beauty caught my eye as I pulled into the garage a few weeks ago. I loved how the light hit the can through the window and the drama of the strong light and dark. Can't wait to see this one come together!

How cool is that? Who would have thought that my Sunday run along a country road would eventually lead to a painting being exhibited in a national exhibition? Just another Sunday observing the beauty around me and doing what I love!

Working up the details of this piece this weekend. I love exploring all the beautiful textures of these old tools. I can't help but think of the hands that worked with it, and the many projects that were created.
