Get ready to kick off Pride Month at the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library with a free film screening and vintage button-making session! Watch the acclaimed film Parade: Q***r Acts of Love and Resistance, a bold documentary that depicts the history of the 2SLGBTQI+ rights movement in Canada. From drag shows and community organizing to police raids and protests on Parliament Hill, the film honours the elders and activists whose defiance helped shape a more inclusive society. After the film screening, stay to make a vintage-inspired pride button, with all supplies provided. The film will be shown in the Program Room at the James L. McIntyre Centennial Library, 50 East Street, Sault Ste. Marie, on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Doors open at 2 p.m., with the screening starting by 2:15. Admission is free, but space is limited.
