Attended the Canadian premier of the movie Ashes Of K in Windsor Ontario on Saturday. Mike Haggith's album The War Inside and the Din first album, Give In To The Din made up the complete music sound track. It was surprising to see how well the music was cut to fit the scenes, and it was nice to get credit for all the hard work that went into making the albums.

What have I been up to. The bulk of my free time I have been mixing the Steeletown Girls album. But the live room is full of drums. I purchased a used Roland TD 1K, upgraded the tom and kick pads and running through Easy Drummer.
I found a red 16" floor tom and turned it into a kick drum for a small travel kit. Filled it with foam to make it quiet and purchased a set of Sabian SR2 cymbals that I plan to lathe off all the rough knurling, thin out the cymbals and drill multipule little holes in them like Sabians new frequency reduced line at a fraction of the cost. This is the kit to play in small low volume venues.
And lastly is the old Pearl Pro DX series birch shelled kit purchased in the 80's. My dream kit at the time. It consisted of the brass shelled free floating snare, 2- 22" kick drums and toms 10", 12", 13", 14", 15", 16" floor and an 18" floor tom. I sold the larger half of the kit and someone has an oversized rock kit with a 14" x 10" deep snare.
The hardest instrument to record is a drum kit. It has always been a passion of mine and one reason I got into recording.
I have an ever growing collection of cymbals, drum hardware and mics. Maybe one day I will master a kick ass sounding live drum kit, with out samples!!!!!
