You know that moment when the music swells and suddenly a movie scene becomes unforgettable? Kathleen Radke is part of an evening devoted to exactly that feeling.

JUNO Award-winning soprano Kathleen Radke is recognized for her expressive musicianship and warm, flexible vocal tone. The Whole Note praised her for maintaining “a wonderfully relaxed vocal line through the ex*****on of elaborate lines.” She holds an Honours Bachelor of Music and Performance Diploma from McMaster University and an Opera Diploma from Wilfrid Laurier University, where she studied with bass-baritone Daniel Lichti.

Radke has performed internationally as a member of the Festival Choir of the European Music Festival under Helmuth Rilling, appearing in Stuttgart, Bonn, Athens, and Berlin. Her international engagements have included touring China for the 16th Annual Meet in Beijing Festival and multiple performances at Bachfest Leipzig. She has performed throughout Germany, Italy, England, Austria, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, and Mexico.

She was recognized in Gramophone Magazine for her “exquisite” contribution to the Ottawa Bach Choir’s 2020 JUNO Award–winning recording of Handel’s Dixit Dominus.

Operatic roles include Pamina and Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), Ännchen (Der Freischütz), Elisetta (Il matrimonio segreto), Oberto (Alcina), Suor Angelica (Suor Angelica), and the Princess in R. Murray Schafer’s Princess of the Stars. Kathleen performs regularly with leading Canadian ensembles including the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, National Arts Centre Orchestra, Ottawa Bach Choir, and Kingston Chamber Choir.

Some movie moments stay with you because of the music. On October 25th, Grayson Nesbitt helps bring that music off the screen and onto the SCTC stage.

Award-winning lyric tenor and voice teacher, Grayson Nesbitt, holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Ottawa, a Master of Music degree from the University of Western Ontario, and has taught with The Bytown School of Singing since 2018.

He is featured in Svyatyj Bozhe (The Trisagion) from Songs from Heaven on Ukrainian-Canadian composer Joanna Estelle’s album, TRANSMUTATION, which was awarded a Silver Medal in the Classical category of the September 2023 Global Music Awards. Grayson takes great pride in being one of the inaugural members of vocal chamber ensemble, senzaNOMINE, which is preparing another two concerts of chansons and madrigals for the 2025-2026 season. Grayson also serves as one of two Artists in Residence at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Ottawa, supporting the music ministry there.

There is a new show and its free to attend!

The Algoma Fall Festival is back and ready to show you How To Hug a Porcupine.
Created by Sault Ste. Marie native Adam Francis Proulx and directed by Canadian Comedy Award winner Byron Laviolette, How to Hug a Porcupine is an original theatrical comedy that blends puppetry, live video, and multimedia storytelling.
The audience has come to watch a dusty old educational presentation about porcupines, produced by the Canadian government in 1954. A contemporary puppeteer has been hired to bring the lecture to life using vintage-style puppetry. But as the presentation begins, unexpected cracks appear, and the evening transforms into something far more surprising.

Inspired by philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer's famous "porcupine dilemma," the play explores our desire for connection and the risks that come with getting too close. Equal parts funny, inventive, and heartfelt, How to Hug a Porcupine is a workshop presentation of a new Canadian work in development featuring live puppetry, live video, and integrated ASL, welcoming both hearing and d/Deaf audiences.
