Studio Dance Arts: Building Confident Futures in Sault Ste. Marie Since 2003

Welcome to Studio Dance Arts, where we believe that dance training is life training. For over two decades, we have been a cornerstone of the Sault Ste. Marie arts community, providing a welcoming and inspiring space for dancers of all ages to discover their passion, build their confidence, and develop skills that will last a lifetime. Our Story: World-Class Expertise, Hometown Heart

Studio Dance Arts was founded in 2003 by Sault Ste. After an incredible professional career that took him from the prestigious halls of The Juilliard School in NYC to performing on the world's biggest stages with legends like Michael Jackson and Gloria Estefan, Richard returned home with a singular mission: to build a world-class dance institution for the next generation of local artists. He founded SDA at a time when other local studios were closing, creating a home for displaced dancers and continuing the legacy of dance in our community. Today, that commitment to excellence and community remains at the heart of everything we do. Our Philosophy: Dance Training is Life Training

We are passionate about dance, but we are even more passionate about the people our dancers become. Our professional faculty is dedicated to nurturing not just technique and artistry, but also the essential life skills that build strong character. At SDA, your child will learn:

⭐ Discipline & Focus: The dedication required to master a new step or routine.

⭐ Confidence & Resilience: The courage to perform on stage and the perseverance to overcome challenges.

⭐ Teamwork & Respect: The collaborative spirit of working together in a group and celebrating each other's successes.

⭐ Creativity & Self-Expression: The joy of telling a story through movement and discovering their unique artistic voice. A Place for Every Dancer

Whether your child is taking their very first steps in a dance class or is an advanced student with pre-professional aspirations, there is a place for them in our SDA family. We offer a complete range of programs to suit every age, interest, and commitment level.

⭐ Recreational Programs: For dancers of all ages (from toddlers to adults!) who want to experience the joy of movement, learn new skills, and make friends in a fun, supportive environment.

⭐ Award-Winning Competitive Programs: For dedicated dancers seeking to elevate their training, artistry, and performance skills through a structured, high-caliber competitive experience. Begin Your Dance Journey With Us

We are so excited to welcome back guest choreographer, Emily Spearing, to SDA!

Emily is back in Sault Ste. Marie for the next four days working with our competitive dancers in contemporary, and we can’t wait to get started!

A graduate of the School of Toronto Dance Theatre, Emily has performed and created professionally across Canada and internationally. Her training has taken her to the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance in Austria, where she later completed a year-long artistic residency and worked as a rehearsal director. Her choreography has been presented at festivals and professional dance events across Canada and Europe.

Emily has been part of the SDA family for many years now, and we are always so grateful for the creativity, knowledge and energy she brings into the studio.

Welcome back to the Soo, Emily! We can’t wait for four amazing days of dance!
