I was blessed enough to catch a whistle dance at pow wow yesterday. TEACHING ‘The Eagle Whistle is sounded to honor a drum and to call forth the Manidoo who sit at the drum. It is one of the greatest honours a drum can receive.’ In Anishinaabe culture, manidoo describes a supernatural power or sacred spirit that permeates the universe. All living things and beings contain a spirit and are viewed as sacred. I am so grateful to the elders that teach me and to these absolutely stunning singers, dancers, drummers and the ancestors within us that keep these traditions alive.. All my relations .. beautiful way to end the month now time to prepare for shack up szn ❤️‍🔥❤️💛🖤🤍🩵🩷💜💚 AHO

We’re moving toward the August 28 Lunar Eclipse, and the sky is carrying some serious themes of endings, revelations, pressure, transformation, and release and I don’t know about you but we are really feeling it right now as the moon is building up to it 🌔

But listen carefully my friends, not everything that hurts is meant to be fixed. Some things hurt because they are being outgrown. There is a difference between falling apart and being pulled apart from something that can no longer hold you. Sometimes the version of you that survived had to become hard, hypervigilant, independent, resilient, or as we like to claim in “fight or flight” -but my human form is a flightless bird and I for one am tired of all the fighting.

Maybe now the universe is asking something different:
What if you don’t have to survive this next chapter the way you survived the last one? What if you don’t have to understand everything right now? You don’t have to be grateful for the pain but you can listen to what it’s telling you.

Darkness isn’t always the end of the story.

Hey it’s been a while since we took a step along the traditional tarot .. so today - we are here!

🔑 THE HIEROPHANT — V

Sometimes guidance comes from a teacher.

Sometimes it comes from tradition, faith, family, or the people who have walked the path before us.

But The Hierophant also asks us something deeper:

Who taught you what you believe?

And perhaps even more importantly:

Do you still believe it because it feels true to you, or because you were taught that it was true?

There is wisdom in seeking guidance. There is wisdom in learning from others.

But there is also wisdom in knowing when it’s time to question what you’ve been given and find your own relationship with truth, spirituality, and meaning.

The Hierophant reminds us that we don’t have to walk alone.

But we don’t have to hand someone else the map, either. 🔑

People often think astrology is trying to predict the future but it’s usually not as simple as that. The most important piece is actually to know thyself amongst a world of people and places each with their own astrology and that’s such a powerful thought to ponder.

Ok, one more for the road today, but not for good! And on a sillier happier note - I finally found this frigging video after searching all morning. 😂

A few years ago, I found a beautiful white feather at a time when I really needed one of those little reminders that I wasn’t alone. I remember being so excited about it that I went to show my niece.

And then I noticed it.

Right beside the step, next to the feather, was a tiny disembodied little arm and hand from a completely destroyed Mike Wazowski toy… just sitting there like 👋🏻 “Hi.”

I swear. 😂

It was one of those moments where I really needed the feather… but I also really needed the laugh.

And then, later, I found the rest of the toy in a completely unrelated part of the yard. (This movie was also sort of a special one for the family despite us losing little Mike this way)

So yeah. I don’t know what the message was exactly, but apparently it was: “Here’s your sign. Also, lighten the hell up.” 😂

And honestly? I needed both.

I lost my first husband, Shawn, in Vancouver in 2010.

For years, I was so afraid of that grief that I buried it in addiction. After my dad passed in 2022, I was sober, and something changed. I started noticing signs from my dad - so many of them.

But I kept wondering… why was I getting all these messages from Dad, but never from Shawn?

The day this happened, I had literally just messaged my sister:

“It’s so weird that I get all these messages from Dad, but I never get them from Shawn.”

Moments later, I walked into No Frills.

And sitting inside a shopping cart directly in my path was a quarter from Vancouver 2010.

Of all the coins.
Of all the years.
Of all the places.

That was the moment I realized maybe Shawn had been listening too. ❤️ And that was only the beginning. Since that day, the messages from him haven’t stopped.
