Today we let a new set of the fly from the shop.

This is the first set out in quite some time and it has sparked imagination and brought some much needed energy to the shop.

This is a special set that we made specifically for
and the fringe festival.

We are very fortunate to have met several people involved in the theatre scene in Saskatoon and have wanted to find a way to help promote the amazing works the writers, actors, directors and theatre companies do.

We were excited when we got the call asking if we would be interested in displaying our wings and I cannot thank Anita and Phil enough for including us in their amazing event.

And through creating these wings, we have found that we want to work with other community groups and events.

We are a believer that when you put good out into the world, itll find it's way back to you when you need it.

So, what can you do to help? When you find our wings, stop and take a picture and tag us in your post.

Those little moments are precious and we love seeing the smiles the wings bring to everyone's face.

I'm finding it hard to do anything today. The last 24 hours or so have been....something... for Indigenous people.

I say something because it really depends on the person.

Yesterday the Pope used Elie Wiesel's words in an apology to the Indigenous people of Canada for the atrocities done in the past.

I've seen many posts that cover a wide range of feelings: hope, gratefulness, anger, denial, pain and healing.

And all are valid.

I am a step removed from Residential schools and was very well shielded from the effects of that system by

Not all were so lucky to have a mother like her. Not all were so lucky to survive like her.

And so the only response to this apology that I am looking for is from her.

Of course, she uses it as a teaching moment.

'Healing is a journey, not a destination. Yesterday was a step on that path. A big one. Take it in, process it, and when ready take the next step '

It had been a crazy couple of months here at the

Our basement flooded, school finished, and the day job work has been keeping us busy.

In that time, little things tend to slowly pile up.

Things that we tell ourselves, 'I'll do that tomorrow,' but dont get done.

The next thing you know all those little things begin to add up and weigh you down.

* So, how do you eat an elephant? *

remembering that cute anecdote got us started. One thing at a time.

And as things started getting checked off the list the creative energy started flowing again.

These beautiful Pelican Wings were made for a follower to take and display at regional park.

It still amazes us as we watch a new set of wings come to life.

Going from raw wood and slowly turning into art.

A piece that we hope will catch someone's eye and spark a moment to help create a lasting memory.

We have a couple more pieces in the works and now that all those nagging little projects are out of the way we can continue to create some magic.

'Remember why you started and keep going'

Life is strange.

The desire to create has eluded us for a few weeks now.

Suddenly today, I was in the shop and wanting to make something.

But the shop was a mess. It has been since winter!

So today turned into a cleaning day.

As I moved some of our supplies out of the way I came across this Galaxy Wolf piece

Miss K asked me to make something like this and how could I resist?!

It has sat hidden behind several pieces of plywood for over a year.

I displayed it on a bench while I continued to clean and keep glancing over at it.

It helped remind me of the passion I have for creating new things.

It also helped keep me focused on cleaning so I could advance a couple new projects along.

Today's lesson for me was to recall that there is a difference between 'knowing' the path and 'walking' the path

It's time to start putting one foot in front of the other and creating some cool things again

If you never try, you'll never know.

Spring has arrived and with it a fresh creative flow.

Designing, carving and displaying our wooden wings will always be a passion for us but it has been too cold to work out in the shop.

So we turned to YouTube to find some inspiration.

There are some amazing creators who can replicate some pretty cool things you see on your favorite show.

We got hooked by the cosplay creators making Star Wars themed helmets and decided to give it a try.

They wont win any awards or impress the hardcore cosplayers at the Con, but we know some kids who are going to love these!

These will get a second coat and then some detail highlights before having their face shields attached.

Hopefully this long weekend we will be watching the nieces and nephew run through the forests of Endor as they search for a new home for a Founding

We can't all be the Mandalorian, but we can pretend we are part of his team.

It doesnt happen often, but sometimes, just sometimes, perfect little moments present themselves.

It takes planning, organization and ex*****on.

Yesterday Miss K, her Mom and I managed to create an environment where these little moments would thrive.

Sweet 16. Where does the time go?

Miss K and her friends had an amazing night. There was laughter, singing and the making of new memories.

The best part was Miss K brought together some different friend groups.

New friends mean new adventures and more opportunities for perfect little moments to appear.

The best comment I heard summed up the night:
'I love your place, the vibe is just right."

Ours will always be a welcome, safe and inclusive place.

Especially when Miss K is being celebrated!

Cheers to 16 K....hopefully the next 16 don't go by as fast as the first sixteen have

Today is

For those that have been following for a while, you will recall I had a cousin who was murdered.

Mom told me about her, i listened to the CBC documentary about her and i hold her in my heart everytime i look at our wings

We created them to honor the women and girls who have been taken from their families.

did some amazing work on the wings and, as everything does overtime, they have faded.

Susi always meant for a red dress to hang between the wings.

Today, with a heavy heart, I found the courage to put the dress up.

Today we will send out love to my Auntie, cousins, and families all across Canada who are mourning and hurting

Help us raise awareness if you are able. Hang a red dress today.

3 years ago today, early in the morning, I laid awake with an idea running through my mind

I got up and made a list of all the materials I would need to bring this idea to life.

The started started take shape on that late March morning.

If you go back to our early posts you will see that we were (and still are) big fans of pushing our limits and trying new things.

K and I watched as the wings came to life and we knew we had to keep pushing ourselves to create new designs.

Today, we continue to try new things, learn new lessons and keep putting one foot in front of the other along this artistic path.

Success can be defined as getting up just one more time than you fall.

We stopped chasing perfection long ago. We look for the challenges in life and face them head on.

That is where the lessons are.

We march to the beat of our own drum and see the world from our own odd angle.

We like being different. As Miss K has said often, 'Dad, what's normal and who would ever want to be that anyways?'

Spring is a great time to push your boundaries, learn a new skill and put yourself out there.

As one of our favorite quotes says:

" 'It's impossible,' said Pride.
'It's risky,' said Experience.
'It's pointless,' said Reason.
'Give it a try,' whispered the Heart."

Today, we will try for something new. Whether we make it or not doesnt matter.

We tried our best and can be happy with that.

'Sometimes the best way is to light your own way.'

Spring has sprung. The days are getting longer, yet a darkness lingers.

If you've followed us for a while you will know the creative flow has eluded us.

Ideas are in abundance but the energy to bring them to life has not materialized.

The winter was long and lonely and it has impacted both K and I.

We have become homebodies, never going out and keeping our circles small.

But a new seasons brings about a desire for change. To shed the shackles of the dark nights and let the light in.

But what do you do when it isnt working?

You make your own light and trust the path you are on.

Today we learned all about neon wire art and made our first all light wing.

Timing, the say, is everything.

A new skill opens new doors and brings fresh energy and new ideas.

It feels like today was just what we needed.

One day...or day one...the choice is always yours.

Our light is starting to spread again....we hope you join us on our continuing adventure as we try to share joy and happiness with our community.

They say it gets darkest before the dawn...it appears that daybreak has arrived!

'Big things often have small beginnings.'

Trying something new and giving it an honest shot can be hard to do.

But in our house we believe the lessons learned on a new journey outweigh the risk of failure.

Miss K has been exploring photography at school and today I was behind the scenes of her latest adventure.

Watching the girls work together and plan out what they want then seeing them execute it is awe inspiring.

K and her friends endured the cold air and hot smoke grenades to help K get the shots she needed.

The memories of these mini adventures will remain long after the photos are forgotten and bodies have warmed up.

Today was a reminder that in life, it is not the destination that matters, but the journey you have made to get there.

We hope your journey is full of happiness, laughter and smiles and w thank you for joining us on our adventures.

And so another year around the Sun comes to an end.

A time for people to take stock of their lives. To look back and reflect.

Are you the same person you were at this time last year? Did you take a chance? Shoot your shot? Try something new that pushed your boundaries and caused you to change?

In recent discussions with friends and family we have focused on change.

We seek change in our house. We work hard to see the world just a little differently every day. Push the limits and work to be better.

Fear and self doubt are constant companions....and sometimes they hold us back.

But we find inspiration in all of you. We love watching your stories and seeing your successes and send our best during your struggles.

In 2021 we worked hard at looking for the similarities between us rather than letting differences get in the way

We have big plans for 2022 and at this time next year we hope to be celebrating them with you!

After all, in the end, we only regret the chances we didnt take.
