What a weekend full of dance and community! 💙💛

This weekend, dancers came together for the Frontline Dance Collective Kick-off, hosted by Ukrainian Patriot. This was just the start of an initiative that aims to bring together Ukrainian dance communities through movement and culture, and directing this collective energy toward the work being done on the ground in Ukraine. Dancers from took part in a full-day master class exploring six regional styles of Ukrainian dance, led by some of Saskatchewan’s finest instructors: Vitali Sorokotiaguine, Maksym Zabutnyy, and PFE’s very own Serhij Koroliuk.

The next day, we headed into the studio for our Season 60 photoshoot with Tonya Wanner Photography, before taking the shoot outside along the river. 📸

And then, we officially kicked things off with our start of season cast meeting, which was made even better with some themed treats from Darkside Donuts🍩

Season 60 is officially underway. 💙💛

PFEatures: Meet the people behind the performances🌾🌻💛

We’re kicking off a brand-new series! A chance to introduce you to the people who make up our organization, on and off the stage.

First up: Nina Heisler! 👋

Nina has been dancing with PFE for 2 years, as a bridger and a full cast member, after growing up around the organization through her instructors, who were all PFE alumni. And her connection to PFE runs in the family, her mom is also part of the PFE executive team as our Treasurer!

Before joining PFE, Nina danced with Rushnychok Ukrainian Folk Dance Association, where she continues to teach today.

Her favourite part of PFE? The choreography and unique repertoire.

One of her favourite PFE memories so far was debuting on the CNUF Dauphin grandstand and fittingly, she also debuted with her favourite dance: Transcarpathian Suite. ❤️

When she’s not on the stage or in rehearsal, Nina is a second-year Edwards business student, teaches Ukrainian dance, and gives private dance instruction.

Happy Ukrainian Canadian Heritage Month from PFE. 🇺🇦🇨🇦

Baba’s Trunk/Бабусина Скриня is inspired by the painting of the same name by the famous Ukrainian Canadian artist, Larisa Sembaliuk Cheladyn, this dance is dedicated to the pioneers who brought our Ukrainian heritage to Canada.
