The Skullcreek Sessions

The Skullcreek Sessions A series of live recorded videos, featuring both Saskatchewan based artists and other acts that tour

08/12/2023

After a busy summer, we had a moment to edit another video, and we couldn't be more stoked that it's for our good friend Kit Langfield!

Kit is a musician based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He is making a mark in the Saskatchewan music industry with his debut album “Restless.”

The album features Saskatchewan artists Nevada Eaglespeaker, Rebecca Beveridge, David Wickstrom, Bruce Rawling, Paul Kuzbik, Will Ardell, and Aspen Beveridge from League of Wolves.

For this performance, Kit is joined by a band we have previously featured, The Brothers G.

As always, thank you so much for watching!

We are excited to have Brayden King performing his new single “Livin’ The Dream."

Brayden's music is enticing as it rides on the edgy side of Country. Gritty with a hard hit of twang, King is known as the life of the party originally from the land of the living skies, Weyburn, Saskatchewan. King now calls Edmonton, Alberta home and has been embraced by the province's music scene, quickly making a name for himself across the prairies.

With a unique blend of small-town roots and big city sound, we are thrilled to feature Winnipeg alt-rockers Northern Royals on this episode!

After making the rounds of the Manitoba club scene and festival circuit, sharing the stage with the iconic likes of Big Wreck, Our Lady Peace, Monster Truck, Finger Eleven, Royal Tusk, Palaye Royale, The Lazys, Jet Set Satellite and more. Northern Royals are ready to take things to the next level in 2023 and beyond.

With a new crop of hard-hitting, thought-provoking songs and a debut EP produced by an industry legend Gggarth Richardson, the band has its sights set on mainstream success.

Winnipeg has a proud, storied history of genre-defining rock artists, and Northern Royals have their sights firmly set on joining the pantheon.

EPISODE 15

Please welcome to The Skullcreek Sessions Saskatoon rockers Il Creatura performing their new song “Paper Flower Beauty”.
This group melds searing fuzz riffs over soundscapes bordering on psychedelic, with off-kilter rhythms and chunky bass glueing down the groove. Featuring former members of The Pistolwhips and The Sheepdogs, this foursome came together to begin crafting their sound and songs over late nights and some dark days. With a brand new album already in tow this crew is no stranger to the stage, or being on the road. In this incarnation they’ve dug deep into a darker, more introspective sound and lyrical content. If these early recordings are one snapshot of the band, experiencing them at a sweaty live show completes the picture.

NEIGHBOURHOOD BONES & PAPER FLOWER BEAUTY out now, full album drops May 17th, release party May 27th at Capitol Music Club

❗ ❗ Episode 14 ❗❗

This episode of The Skullcreek Sessions features the incredibly talanted Berk Jodoin music performing his brand new song, "Cowboys and Indians".
Berk grew up in the small, northern community of Pierceland. A town much like all the other picturesque towns throughout Canada. But in this community started the incubation that would become the back bone of Berk’s stylistic writing. “I write what I know, and I write what I see, not many fairy tales go into my songs.”

You may have noticed we have been pretty quiet the last while, and for that we apologize. We took some time to create some amazing new videos, featuring cool new Saskatchewan locations, and most importantly, incredibly talented musicians! Without further ado:

❗ ❗ Episode 11 ❗ ❗

Nico Tobias comes from the Alberta rocky mountains. His band plays Rock and Roll.

❗ ❗ Episode 10 ❗ ❗

Our tenth episode features Scott Klein Music and his new single, which is described as "Especially dreamy with precise mysticism", Klein’s next single “Sunshine” is a sentimental dance in the middle of the night, that cries out a collage of images transcending people to the depths of their imagination. The rhythmic guitar notes are a folky parallel to the haunting lyrics that channel a type of moaning over top of the emptiness of the Canadian prairies. This Donovan / Cream tinged jam riffs out in the British California of our minds where it’s always sunny yet somewhat dark. The song’s style twangs like a whistle in the distance on a runaway train; a call and answer of thick western sound. Written for an ex-lover on the plains of Saskatchewan, “Sunshine” features four-time Juno Award Winner and former Sheepdogs guitarist Leot Hanson on lead guitar, alongside Skullcreek Studios producer Aspen Beveridge, completing this small town imagination.
Special thank you to the wonderful folks over at the Capitol Music Club for use of their wonderful space!
