I’ve been itching to try a new art medium, so I treated myself to some new “toys.” Namely, watercolour brush pens! I’ve enjoyed playing around with watercolour paint for a bit, and my hope is that these will have less setup, making it more likely that I’ll actually make art.
I don’t know what I’m doing yet, so I did a little doodle as a trial run. I think I’m gonna enjoy experimenting with these. 😍

It’s been a bit of an artistic slump lately. I think my issue is I keep attempting projects that are out of my scope, and then get discouraged and give up. However, I find there’s nothing better for artist’s block than some good old fashioned fanart. ❤️

March painting complete!
Wall Lake, Waterton Park. Acrylic on canvas

Over the last five years, I’ve focused a lot of my painting energy on capturing views of the Rockies that I’ve gotten to witness in person. With the completion of this piece, I think I’m gonna try some new stuff! Not sure where to go first— I do love my landscape paintings. We shall see what April brings!

My February painting:
I had initially started a larger acrylic painting last month, but I got discouraged early on and needed a quick win. These scribbly urban drawings are good at getting me to loosen up and care less. Plus they just are so much quicker. Hopefully the abandoned painting will be completed for my March project!

Hi friends! It’s been a hot second since I posted any kind of art update.

I was gifted several canvases for Christmas, and decided it would be a good challenge to try and paint one picture per month this year. I’m trying to be on social media as little as possible these days, however! If I can use it as accountability for my art, I’ll say it’s worth it. I’ve finally created an Instagram account for my art as well, which you can find here: https://www.instagram.com/annawiebeart?igsh=MTZ2anhqNW9vcmV5bg%3D%3D&utm_source=qr

I’m currently enjoying a maternity leave while I hang out with my precious little guy. I’m sure it’ll be hard to stick with this challenge when I’m back to work, but I’m gonna do my darndest!

Here’s my January painting. A small tribute to a jaw-dropping hike that Levi and I did almost two years ago in Switzerland.

I had the opportunity this past weekend to dust off the ol' DSLR and photograph these two beauts. :) I sure do love the colours of autumn.

This summer has been full of sun, lakes, gardening, and fun people. However, I’ve been trying to make time to work on a new set of paintings! Can you guess the theme? 😏 More to come!

Gold & white dice perfect for killing dragons,
Zebra pens, 3D prints, coffee in flagons,
Colourful paints and the joy chocolate brings,
These are a few of my favourite things… 🎵

Revisiting an old art style today that I’ve missed. I’m excited to try more doodles another weekend!

It's a happy Friday, and a happy long-weekend to boot! This was a neat project as I don't typically turn my long canvasses upright for a painting. There's something else different about it vs. my other stuff as well-- +10 points to anyone who can figure it out. 🙂

A recent painting from a less-recent hiking trip. I find it can be really hard to replicate the colour "vibe" of my reference photos. So sometimes I just don't even try and let it have whatever colours I like best. :)
