From Valley Axe League Member to the World Stage: Brett Dewhirst Heads to Las Vegas

We’re incredibly excited to share that longtime Valley Axe thrower Brett Dewhirst is heading to Las Vegas to compete in the IKTHOF World Championship this weekend.

Brett’s story with Valley Axe goes all the way back to June 18, 2016, when he joined us as a league member and his interest in throwing began. He later became a member of the Valley Axe team, but throwing continued to be much more than a job or hobby for Brett.

Over the past decade, he has dedicated countless hours to developing his skills and competing in the sport. Now, that journey is taking him from a local throwing league here in Sarnia to a World Championship in Las Vegas, where he’ll compete in axe, knife and no-spin throwing.

The championship features more than $50,000 USD in prize money and will include a professional camera crew, with legendary UFC announcer Bruce Buffer also involved in the event.

For us at Valley Axe, this one is pretty special.
We’ve had the opportunity to watch Brett’s journey from his early days as one of our league members to becoming an accomplished competitive thrower. Seeing someone who developed his passion for the sport right here at Valley Axe earn the opportunity to compete on the world stage is something we’re extremely proud of.

Brett begins competing Friday, September 4, with the World Championship continuing throughout the weekend.

We were in Brigden today! It was a busy one, we went through 180,000 Gellyballs!!! Which works out to over 500 players!! Great turn out and lots of fun!
