JK directly uses the money she makes to fund anti-trans campaigns & groups. She has gone on record multiple times saying she uses her profits to do this. She bullied amnesty international into pulling the report they made talking about how dangerous these groups that she funds are, not only for trans folks but for human rights in general.
There is absolutely no excuse to continue being oblivious to this by supporting her with your money. You know what you’re doing if you consciously go out to a widely panned sh*tty donut company & purchase from this campaign. I say this because I know the people I have seen proudly displaying their support for this, and they are absolutely transphobic people.
I’m so tired of seeing discourse like “but HP was so important to my childhood!” I’m going to hold your hand when I say this: it’s time to grow up. I’m saying this as someone who grew up doing marathons of the movies every winter break throughout my own childhood. I say this as someone who once owned first edition, hardcover copies of every book. Maturity is realizing that somethings are more important than vehemently defending your nostalgia.
I truly don’t know how some folks have lost the plot so much so that they don’t care that their hard earned money goes to supporting a well documented racist, transphobic, and genocidal author.
As if shelling out twenty dollars for a plastic golden snitch wasn’t embarrassing enough.
