Mrs. Drysdale’s Circus is a collaboration between Anna Gustafson and Paul Burke, of Blue Horse gallery on Salt Spring Island, BC.
First created to make us smile, after the far-reaching financial crisis of 2008/09, they named themselves the “Button-Eyed Gang” in tribute to their founder Jeremy. He is a stuffed rabbit - carved of wood - with button eyes, embraced by Bridget - Mrs. Drysdale’s 4 year old granddaughter.
The magical and smile-inducing animation of this carved wooden stuffed animals continued off and on, ever since! However when the heard about the circus life as recounted by Penelope Drysdale to Bridget, they quickly let us understand that CIRCUS was their heart’s desire. We consulted with Penelope and she cheerfully agreed to take on the not consequential task of visionary, management, and most difficult, dealing with the many very headstrong personalities of these talented performers.
Mrs. Drysdale, when asked, jumped at the opportunity to bring her Circus - which has grown in reputation over the years - to this equally magical venue: KiZmit Cafe!
