I just finished art school, and for my final 20-piece portfolio, I’m turning the moment my earbuds died on a morning coastal walk into a poem and series of paintings capturing the feeling of mental noise giving way to the seaside taking over my senses.

In Piece 1, collaged nautical charts meet wild, roadside sweet peas in acrylic, oil and china marker.

Trying my hand at collage.

Using ripped pieces from a magazine I have bought multiple times as gifts. Sacrificing my own copy for art, the way memories help you create something new. (I hope not to offend 🖤)

Beautiful textures and coastal colors shown in the photography of woven fabric, foliage,
and a line that jumped out for me in typeface.

Creating the beginning of the scene that would later emerge through layers of acrylic and oil.

Driving through town today, I saw a young woman wearing a beautiful, peachy coloured, flowy gown, accessorized with headphones and a backpack. I loved it!

And how fitting that I have been painting this dancer with a similar dress!
