This album changed my life.
Instantly.

In a CD wallet under the seat of my truck I still have the burned copy that my friend Tyler made for me when we were 14.
Until then, all the punk rock I had been listening to was... Fun, I guess? Not particularly challenging, though.
It was the height of Third-Wave Ska, and I was spending most of my time skanking in the sunshine, kicking up hacky-sacks and looking for w**d.

This was something different.
Changing time signatures, a hardcore feel with incredibly melodic and hypnotic guitar lines - it was magic.

Choke naturally led to Smallman Records labelmates and the whole of the Canadian indie music scene opened up from there.

This album made me *want* to play guitar again, and changed the way I played. It led directly to the next band I was in, as we bonded over our shared love of 's Make Up the Breakdown, this album, and Moneen's Theory of Harmonial Value.

If it wasn't for this record, I doubt I'd be making music today.

So on this , may I present Choke - Foreword

Today is the International Transgender Day of Visibility, so of course it's the day to rock the shirt and tell you to follow the if you aren't already! Allies in a small town can be hard to come by, and they're fighting for more resources to support the LGBTQ+ community.
