Life’s surprises can be a real challenge—like crappy weather on the one day off, cancellations of highly anticipated events, or even a tear in a project poured so much effort into. I recently faced this with a large art piece I was so eager to finish. It felt frustrating, but moments like these teach resilience and growth. The tough patches make the smooth ones even sweeter. How have unexpected setbacks shaped something meaningful in your life? Let’s share stories and support each other! For more reflections and updates, check out: https://ArlenesBlog.com

What do you do when the moon is full and your lying in bed unable to sleep ? — why you get up take care of unfinished business — started this one weeks ago — I’m sure you are all eager to see the progress — unfortunately there’s a tiny tear along one side I can still see ( life if full of the unexpected and sometimes we need reminders that not everything has to be perfect ) I’m still planning on finishing it and hanging it somewhere in my house as a reminder that flawed imperfect things can be beautiful to — not sure if it’s quite done yet — 12:30 to 6:00 last night was enough for one sitting — I have come to the conclusion that waves do not come as easily to me as land and sky — ( probably cause I’m a prairie girl through and through ) never the less I continue to play.

Life is full of everyday tasks, and it feels overwhelming sometimes. That is exactly why it is essential that we set aside time to play. I held an exceptionally enjoyable class tonight that took me right back to grade school — getting dirty, finger painting. There is just something about getting right in there with your hands that connects your soul to what you create.

Arlene's blog emphasizes the importance of setting aside time for play amidst life's busyness. She highlights the therapeutic benefits of painting as a creative outlet for stress relief and mental health. Encouraging readers to reconnect with their creativity, Arlene suggests simple activities to re...

First IN HOUSE studio class tonight in Arlene’s Art Space . ( class was full and I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did ) thank you for your interest and support — more than just a paint party — black and white but not as easy as it looks — we did this little monochromatic landscape study — talked about tonal value creating perspective and depth — blending — hard and soft lines and the all important relationship of light and dark and much more — a lot of info packed into one 2 hour class.
All the pieces turned out amazingly well — same ideas but all still so different and unique.
Looking forward to next week when a few will be returning and a few new ones will be joining our little group of artists in the making . Whether you come to learn - to relax - to create or just to escape for a night out of something else, I appreciate the confidence you put in my ability to share some of what I’ve learned over the years . Till next time. 🥰
Next weeks class ( the 21st ) is already full — still a few spaces available for April 28th. PM me if interested— must be 16 years of age or older as this is an adult class.
Watch for other classes coming up.
